Seen and heard around the Garden before the game:

  • The mood in the Hawks locker room is light, with players joking with each other and discussing topics such as ping pong. One of the directives written on the white board for Hawks players is, "Have fun".

  • Celtics coach Doc Rivers describing the difference between Games 1 and 2:

“I think the emotion probably lowers and the intensity rises,” said Rivers. “It’s better focus, you know what each other is going to do, somewhat…I think it’s a better game. Each game gets tighter, and tougher, and more focused.”

  • Celtics forward Leon Powe politely declining to be a part of the Mike Bibby-Kendrick Perkins feud:

"I'm not getting involved," he said.
