ATLANTA -- Celtics forward Paul Pierce has been fined $25,000 by the NBA for making what the league deemed a "menacing gesture" in Game 3 in Atlanta, it was announced today by Stu Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations.

The incident occurred in the fourth quarter of the Celtics’ 102-93 loss to the Hawks on April 26. There has been speculation that Pierce displayed a gang sign.

Pierce found out about the fine at about 6 p.m. this evening. He did not speak to reporters. Celtics GM Danny Ainge was seen talking to NBA commisioner David Stern in the press room. Ainge said afterwards he would deal with the incident after the season.

  1. What about the other player taunting him. Yeah David Stern knows what a gang sing is!

  1. Brooks-- I'm sure African American Stu Jackson is a real racist. Yeah, right., you dumb-dumb. What he /is/ is a former New York Knicks coach. Just like ex Yankee Bob Watson always coming down on the Sox. NY teams stink and their exes take it out on Boston teams from the league offices.

  1. HaHa...That WAS a gang sign. Paul is from Inglewood California. Try doing that "gesture" in the streets of Inglewood (which is mostly Bloods) that the "b" he threw up isn't a gang sign.
