Celtics mystique? What Celtics mystique?
Although his team has yet to win a game in Boston in the regular season or in the playoffs (0-5), Cavaliers coach Mike Brown wasn't taking a cavalier approach when he said he wasn't sure what all the fuss was about when it came to the subject of the Celtics mystique.
Sure, Brown knows all about the Celtics' rich history and tradition. He knows all about the men -- from Red Auerbach to Bill Russell to Bob Cousy to Tom Heinsohn to John Havlicek to Larry Bird -- who were largely responsible for putting up the 16 championship banners.
But he also knows that this Celtics team, as presently constituted, is not the same as those teams. So, where's the mystique?
"You hear people talk about the Boston mystique, but I know for me, personally, I don't feel it at all," Brown said during a teleconference Saturday afternoon before his team flew to Boston to face the Celtics in Game 7 Sunday afternoon at TD Banknorth Garden. "I just feel like this group is the Boston Celtics and they did a nice job of putting this group together this year and they played some great basketball this year.
"I haven't even thought of Bird, [Robert] Parish, and all that other stuff, until you just now brought it up," he added. "It's something that I haven't addressed with our team."

Celtic mystique died in 1986. And the THREE STOOGES (Pierce, Garnett, and Allen) are going to bring it back any time soon, I am afraid.
Let's see what the Cleveland Coach has to say tomorrow night when his beaten team goes back home to pack up for the Summer.
Then we will all sing "CELTICS' PRIDE" loud & long.
OUR CURRENT TOUTED BIG 3 IS REALLY THE BIG ONE (1) !!!!!!!!!!!!
Parish, McHale & Bird would have sat out last night's game in the 4th qtr. with a 20 pt+ lead.
Please, I don't need anyone to give me statistics but it just seems we miss a shot, they get the rebound, they miss a shot, they get the rebound & many more tap-ins that we (that's just being plain more aggressive). They drive to the basket and make it or if covered pass off for someone to make a short jump shot but mostly on the drive, they get fouled. It seems the opponents are getting twice as many foul opportunities as we.
During the season when we had Ray Allen & Pierce making frequent 3 pointers, who needed worry about the offensive boards-it became a mute point. This Big 3 and it's not their fault can't be compared to my favorites. McHale & Parish were very effective from 5-10 feet as is Garnett. Bird was also from that distance and anywhere out 20-30 etc. feet. But what he and Havilchek could do was drive to the basket-make it, pass off or get fouled. Other that Pierce and Rondo, we really don't have anyone to drive to the basket. And it seems when they do, they get their shots blocked. How could Rondo go from 20 pts in game 5 to 2 pts last night-pretty good adjustment by the Cavs on him. Ray Allen is a sweet nice guy and what is he best known for-a good 3 point shooter but when he's cold and he has been, his play is very average. I'd rather have a Delonte West who's pretty good shooter too but can drive to the basket. Paul Pierce has had a Jeckle & Hyde performance with way too many turnovers. THE REAL SOLID CURRENT BIG 3 GUY HAS BEEN GARNETT & I WANTED A RING FOR HIM MORE THAN ANYONE.
Critical as I am, I'm a long time CELTIC FAN going back to Cousy, Sharman days etc. Believe it or not, I feel if we can win the 7th game, we'll have an easier time with the less athletic, energetic & youthful Detroit team than we did with the Hawks & Cavs.
I've lived in SF Bay area(born Portland, Maine) past 40 years so am a local Bay Area team fan too so hate LA teams(sort of like Sox-Yanks rivalries) so would love to see the finals between
CELTICS-LAkERS !!!
The Celtics will nevah equal the days of my youth because I am a repressed white middle-aged white guy and I agree with the previous poster. I will now curl up in my Wes Welkah jammies and go to sleep.
