  1. * If necessary? Two series and 14 games. Good thing the Celtics had the ebst record in the league and have the home court all the way through.
Four series and 16 wins in Boston! WOW!

  1. As a thirty something growing up with Celtics success, in a weird way this is as sweet as the Pats and Sox success this decade.

I wish Red was here to see this...

  1. Hello All you Kelts. Detroit is going to bomb your world. You had a great season. Great players and great tradition. I think this is the year we get back the Champeenship we should've repeated back in what 2003/4? Man, that was a long time ago.

  1. Dear detroitDickweed: you're close, but not quite right. Detroit is not going to bomb our world - they are simply going to bomb.

  1. One day of rest after two VERY hard 7-game battles and they now have to play every other day for two weeks. The Celtics are done here. I give it at most 6 games. Detroit is well rested and has the uper hand in most matchups.

  1. Having been born and raised in Mass. watching the Celtics and having
Bob Cousy one of the great Celtic leaders in the SIXTIES give me my senior letter in high school makes me feel proud I'm from the Boston area. The Celtics,Pats and Red Sox are all great "TEAMS" and the Bruins have had their share of the glory days too. I love wearing my home teams tee shirts and jackets down here in Tampa, Fl. where there are so many - yankee- fans. Enjoy the view from the top of the mountain one day, one game at a time. P.S. I only moved here after retiring because it's warmer and no snow. GO CELTICS AND FANS ALL THE WAY.................:)

  1. Will the real Ray Allen please stand up?
Ray NOT being Ray is the main reason the Celtics had so much trouble away from home in the playoffs. If he can find his MOJO again, and Truth & Ticket play as normal, get ready for Banner #17

  1. I'm a self-admitted bandwagon basketball fan, just looking for another championship of which we lost in February. Go CELTS!

  1. Ya! ya! ya!..."The Truth" is showing his basketball intellect. The Truth is taking his shot, but getting everybody involved. Everyone is driving to the basket, but keeping in mind who's open for a better shot selection. Coach Doc has good rotation. Posey, House, & Brown coming off the bench. When they go to Detroit, Coach will probably play Cassell and T. Allen to kinda rest the starting five. Celtics in 6.

  1. Game 1 answered the questions about a. rest vs. rhythm - rhythm (Celtics) wins; b. individual match-ups especially Billups over Rondo favor the Pissed-ons - didn't quite happen that way, so it's Rondo, game 1; and c. long-time teammates vs. the "newly created Big Three and what each would (or would not) give up - they each gave for the good of the team and 66 +15 wins proves it. ESPN, HoopsHype, and every other group of idiots who picked the Pistons to dominate this series have shown to be wrong, wrong, wrong again. No matter who tries to bury the C's they keep winning, no matter who's against them - announcers, refs, or know-nothing, johnnies-come-lately to the game of basketball. They keep playing great D and their players step up to shoulder the load. At least they're playing against a real team, not a one-man band or guys who think a dunk is worth more than 2 pts.

    tpts.pts.whworthmore more than 2 pts.

    two points.

  1. Pistons in Six. Good-bye.

  1. The celtics are a great team, but the owner went into panic mode putting the roster together. they're all getting older (the big 3) and they arent playing just a group of basketball players. They're playing against a team... I know MOST of you are bandwagon celtics fans now but can you really count out Detroit... if you say yes you've got to be kidding me. Proven team against a new team who hasnt won on the road yet. The celtics could win the series but now they need a road win... good luck

  1. HISTORY WILL REPEAT ITSELF.,THE CHAMPIONSHIP FORM IS NOW ON BOSTON.,

Posted by REDS May 28, 08 12:41 AM
  1. Put Leon Powe on McDyess and press full-court for the final 2 minutes of each quarter and end this nonsense using the whole team...make the Pistons react to what the C's do and not the opposite!

  1. Kevin Garnett is the Alex Rodriguez of the NBA. Goes back to his playing time in Minnesota. Timberwolf for life.

  1. There is little special about Detroit's current "Motown Hackers" Piston basketball team. If ever an hometown officiating team needed reviewing and investigating for game rigging allegations...THIS game manipulating zebra striped crew warrants such.

For two straight Motor City games now, these Pistons have been allowed to mug any Boston player possible and in such an obvious blatant manner. This two game spat of ref bias has been the worst we have witnessed in years...in any sport and in any game. It is sickening and sadly takes the fun out of watching the sport at this level. Never say never on our now stated suspician. In the history of sports, more than a few refs have interferred with a game's outcome but got caught way too late to provide any real sense of justice.

For the most part, the main time these hometown Detroit refs called fouls increasing Boston's later total was at the least important times and mostly in the third and fourth quarters. Sure, this opposing city's officiating crew belatedly called lots of fouls against their homies, but, not until they had thwarted any chance at the C's blowing out their boys. Calling less of consequence belated sometimes questionably earned fouls against the Pistons mostly in the second half merely to pretend to not be biased during both of Detroit's home games makes their acts all the more suspect.

Was it me or what, for example in Game 3 as the Celtics were on their way to a thirty point half-time lead, these Detroit officiators leveled the game back out by whistling the C's into nearly a tie, while wink wink...looking the other way on Detroit's actual fouls. Did you see Hamilton and Wallace grabbing, pulling and pushing Boston's players down...There is little respectable professional level of play in cheating unless one gets caught. The problem is...many more serious fouls went ignored by this crew.

Better check this crews or their relative's bank accounts in the future...

I will say, had the Celtics players not feared to go straight to the hole and on as many occasions as possible, nearly half of these grabhappy slapmaster Pistons players would have fouled out by the half, or, very soon afterwards. In that one regard...the Celtics have themselves to blame. Making one too many under the basket passes has its pitfalls, as Boston learned.

Must be a coaching decision which repeatedly prevented the C's from more aggressively exploiting the Pistons in this regard during Game 3 and 4...Just spread your body out, hit the paint running while hoping for a defensive foul, then, slam the ball through guys!!!

This is what Detroit is doing to Boston in reverse. The Celtics should be up 3 games to 1 and ready to close this series out.

To add...what a time for Boston's players to forget how to pass and dribble. These are basic fundamentals of this game and our team needs to take some laps for all but forgetting that...

Still, I remained convinced that this series is the C's to lose and think we will win in seven.

  1. Good points Bobby!...How did the NBA officiating ever deterirate to such an abysmal level? The Celts have been getting hammered all thru the playoffs
like there's some kind of bounty on their heads. There are either phantom calls which go undetected to video replay or the no calls which in the Spurs case just cost them the season...Lucky for us that the boys in green are tough enough and good enough to have prevailed this far..!
PS ...Don't worry Bob Ryan...we still love you...just tame it a little on "Around The Horn"...thought for a minute that you had gone to the dark side..ie. Detroit!
