No Celtics on U.S. team
USA Basketball will not have any Celtics on its 12-man roster during the 2008 Beijing Olympics. However, Team USA is interested in having Celtics guard Rajon Rondo and center Kendrick Perkins on a young select team that could play against USA in Las Vegas during training in July to help them prepare for the Olympics. By participating, Rondo and Perkins could put themselves in position to play for USA in the future.

RONDO!
Not sure if this is a compliment or an insult but either way - Rondo and Perk should focus on getting healthy again before anything else!
I just read the AP story on that... shocked at the snub... thought at least one of the Big 3 would make the team-- apparently they are good enough to win the NBA championship, but not to compete in the Olympics...
Garnett and Duncan were both asked and declined...Pierce may be smart to fully recover from nagging injuries....
I believe KG and Ray had opted out a while back. Pierce got blackballed by the last coaches who were trying to dodge the blame themselves. Anyways, I want those boys to rest and ready themselves to repeat next season.
Let Rondo and Perk go and gain some more experience, it would be more valuable to them at this point than for the Big 3...
Tayshaun Prince, Carmelo Anthony,Carlos Boozer,Dwight Howard and Jason Kidd without Pierce or Garnett. What a Joke! No wonder they can't beat the foreigners.
How could you not want Ray Allen on the US team? International basketball is all about long range shooting. I'm an American living in Australia so I see a reasonable about of international ball. During the last olympics, the USA team was hurt most by our lack of long range shooting.
I think that Kevin Garnett should have been selected to play on this team.
I also agree that Rondo and Perkins should be concentrating on getting over their injuries before they can compete in the Olympics
They didn't try out for the team, so they didn't make it. There is no snub.
The big three could have won the olympics by themselves, but they're probably exhausted from winning so much.
having coached abroad for some 20 years I know that the selection committee doesn't get it. they don't understand the FIBA mentality.
talent alone won't get it done anymore.
They do really need garnett ! why not him instead of Bosh, because what do We need to scare some other people? A "MONSTER" A powerful monster.
if they didnt ask thm thats jus bull
im a celtics fan and had bittersweet feelings about them not being on the team.
but i really think they should, i think if u are asked and dweny it, to me that in un-patriotic
help out the u.s and play
also to me in my opinion EDDIE HOUSE SHOULD START OVER RONDO NEXT SEASON !!
No, rondo should start like he always has... Eddie house is good but still only benchworthy compared to our stating five
US selection committee must want to loose if they didn't ask Allen & Pierce & how gracious of them to offer Rondo to play against the roster for practice. The Olympics for most athletes is once in a lifetime experience. Of course US team is confident, ego has usually been the order of the day for the US in this department. Prepare to be shown how to play the game America invented by less well payed players, again. Celtic's were the true winners with real heart the kind you want on your side when it comes down to the wire. Dumb decision not to include more.
NYC
the team should have kirk hinrich not darin williams!
