Spears on Laker fans
LOS ANGELES -- Boston Globe NBA writer Marc Spears talks about Laker fans -- including introducing us to his friend, Jeff Logan, a former Inglewood High basketball star, who played professionally in Spain -- outside the Staples Center as Game 3 of the NBA Finals approaches.

Who is this Spears idiot? Has he been to a game at Staples before? He's just spouting the Dodgers'-fans-leave-early crap he's heard elsewhere, because had he been to ANY games at Staples, he would KNOW that Lakers fans are passionate and LOUD. And he says Lakers' fans are "already late." Already late for WHAT? It was morning when you taped your home movie, Spears, and the game starts at 6. Typical Boston douche.
Internet tough guys are everywhere, but they seem to crawl out from everything associated with Smogville.
I think your mom called you, Adam. Go upstairs and get your laundry off the couch.
Is that Bob Ryan walking by at the 20 second mark?
What a boob. Typical Beantown propaganda, not loud, not intimidating, haha, apparently this freak has never seen any Laker/Celtic games from the past! Or, he did not watch the first game at Staples this year when Doc said it was the best crowd of the year. At least he is honest. This stuff is not to be taken seriously, as you can see the doofus was laughing the whole time, but what do you expect, Mike Bibby lambastes the Celtic bandwagon crowd so this is his little way of getting back. Apparently only movie stars are allowed into the arena according to "hoop expert" Marc Spears. Not very knowledgeable, he also wrote that most of LA will be rooting for Paul Pierce. HAHAHA
There is a hard core of loyal, if not particularly savvy, Lakers fans, but they're exactly the ones who tonight will get pushed aside for celebrities-come-lately and wealthy hangers-on. But even at its most intense, the Laker crowd isn't intimidating the way, say, Detroit's just was. The LA poster above doesn't understand why you'd ditch work, get to the center early, and soak in the excitement and noise and solidarity (and because of that attitude, there never is any). Out here it's get in your car; get stuck in traffic; make it into your seat a little after tip-off; deliver your Pavlovian response to the electronic cues; rush back to your car; sit in traffic; go home. That's what passes for the excitement of live, championship basketball.
Actually, you get that SC football or UCLA basketball, but you are right about getting pushed aside by the high rollers. But here in Boston, they just don't show up at Celtic games unless they are winning. Hence, the reason for the bandwagon tag. Celt fans can yell louder than anyone but the fact remains the "Garden", until, this year, had NO ATMOSPHERE, and I should know since my company gives out free tickets by the tons and before this year, no one every wanted to go. Now, when they are winning (bandwagon) EVERYONE is a Celtic fan, everyone is wearing green. Staples Center plays to capacity ALL THE TIME. Who cares if movie stars are there, the people care enough to pay the highest prices in the league, because they support their team, WIN OR LOSE.
This guy is a writer? Ah, the age of spellcheck...
