Tony Allen scored 22 points (eight for 11 from the field) and Eddie House had 16 (six for seven) as the Celtics took a 59-56 halftime lead over the New Jersey Nets in a preseason game Thursday night in East Rutherford, N.J.

The Celtics started the game slowly, failing to score from the field until J.R. Giddens' transition layup 5:10 into the contest. Yi Jianlian gave the Nets a 17-3 advantage with 5:44 left, Allen scoring his first points with a 3-pointer 16 seconds later. House's fourth 3-pointer of the game gave the Celtics a 54-52 advantage, their first lead of the game, with 46 seconds remaining in the half.
