Celts ready to start (almost)

Posted by Frank Dell'Apa, Globe Staff October 17, 2008 08:35 PM

The Celtics moved closer to regular-season mode Friday night in their first game at the TD BankNorth Garden since the NBA Finals.

The starting lineup which carried the Celtics to their 17th NBA title last season started for the first time in the preseason, performing together for nearly eight minutes, then again briefly late in the half. Kendrick Perkins, who missed most of the preseason while recovering from shoulder surgery, departed after 7 minutes, 45 seconds but seemed close to being ready for the start of the season, converting two dunks in the half.
