PITTSBURGH -- Center Kendrick Perkins tried to work out the rust during his first preseason action during the Celtics' 90-86 preseason victory over Cleveland tonight at the Petersen Events Center. Perkins, who had left shoulder surgery in the offseason, was scoreless after taking no field goal attempts, missing two free throw attempts while earning 5 rebounds, 4 fouls and 2 turnovers in 21 minutes.

"I just got a little winded," Perkins said. "But I'm good. I'm just trying to get my rhythm back on the court."

Forward Leon Powe scored a game-high 17 points for Boston (3-1) and blocked a potential game tying shot with 4.2 seconds left by Cleveland's Vernon Hamilton. Boston guard Ray Allen had 15 points in 23 minutes while forward Paul Pierce added 14 points in 20 minutes. Cavs star LeBron James had 12 points in 17 minutes.

"I saw (Hamilton) when he came off the spin (dribble). I just went over there early. I wasn't trippin off my help (defensively on my man). It's the shot that counts. So I went over there and blocked it," said Powe, about his game saving block.
