Iverson to Pistons?

Posted by Marc J. Spears, Globe Staff November 3, 2008 10:53 AM

A source close to Nuggets guard Allen Iverson is telling people in Denver that he expects to be traded to the Detroit Pistons for Chauncey Billups.

Iverson makes $20 million this year. Billups makes half of that. The deal can not be executed unless the Pistons involve more players to match Iverson's cap figure.

Billups, a Denver native, has seemed open-minded to finishing his career back home. He has played for the Nuggets previously, appearing in 45 games in 1998-99 and 13 games in 1999-00.

  1. No, Thanks....Billup is a great team player and AI is not, perhaps AI is a better scorer but he will completely screw up the team chemistry.

  1. why would the pistons make that trade? Chauncey Billups is the piece of the puzzle they should keep. I assume AI's expiring contract would help them next year, and that would let them put Stuckey in at the one and let AI play the two but that's just not a smart move. Better to keep Chauncey.

  1. Dont get me wrong, I love A.I. cuz he's got what it takes to really run-n-gun a any team, but that unit forged by the Pistons was well-handled by My Big-Shot himself. At the end of the day tho, it's a bizness, and wheeling & dealing's a huge part of it. The Pistons have been underperforming for the past few years.

Straight up yo, word to your mothers?
Bad trade, AI is a cancer wherever he plays.

  1. this is bullshit! AI will ruin everything. he'll be holding and shooting the ball 48 mins. every game.

  1. Bad trade. Iverson is not a team player. Chauncey is a leader and helps control the direction of the team when needed. Yes it is a business, but what business sense does this trade make?
