KG in the house
Kevin Garnett said he was looking forward to sleeping in his own bed in suburban Wayzata as the Celtics visited the Minnesota Timberwolves Friday night.
But Garnett was in for a lively homecoming in his first appearance playing as a Celtic at the Target Center.
"That's what he should say," Celtic coach Doc Rivers noted of Garnett's assertion this would be "just another game." "It's obviously special. But his job is to try to keep as focused as possible, as Kevin can be (focused), for the game. But, clearly, this is special for him -- he knows that, we all know that, but as a player he has to do what he can to get through all that and play the game. This game is very important for Kevin, every night is important. And so, I think, that's what he says, but that's not what he means."
Rivers said the Celtics' hectic schedule could help tone down Garnett -- the team arrived at 3 a.m. Friday after taking a 98-80 win over Detroit Thursday.
"I picked up that he was tired," Rivers said before the game. "In a strange way, the energy he has may be good for us. I'm usually worried him going over the energy line."
