Pierce returns to form

Posted by Frank Dell'Apa, Globe Staff November 29, 2008 09:39 PM

Paul Pierce returned to form long enough to spark the Celtics in the final quarter of an 89-84 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats Saturday night.

Pierce, who had scored 58 points in five previous games, had 19 points, including 10 in the final 3:57 of play. Pierce capitalized on mismatches as the Bobcats played the final minutes with a three-guard lineup, scoring twice in the lane as the Celtics took an 81-77 lead with 2:20 to go. Pierce then hit three foul shots and fed Kevin Garnett for a 17-footer and an 86-82 edge with 40 seconds to go. The Celtics (16-2) won for the eighth successive time.

  1. I hope Boston fans are basking in this. An unbelievable run last year ending in a championship, and 18 games in to this season, the C's have won 16 of them, and seem headed for the same type of season...hopefully, with the same results!

I know...i'ts a long way to the playoffs, never mind the Finals...and injuries could kill this team (esp. if it's one of the Big Three or Rondo)...but, think about it: The C's are 98-28 in their last 126 games (including, of course, the post-season). That is a winning percentage of .778.

BETTER than 3 out of every 4 games.

Danny Ainge and this ownership really deserve a LOT of credit for this. The Green Rule Again!
