Moore signs, Scalabrine out
Mikki Moore, the free agent center who has been pursued by a handful of teams since he was waived by the Sacramento Kings Thursday, has signed with the Celtics, team president Danny Ainge has confirmed.
Contract terms were undisclosed, but he is expected to remain with the team for the rest of the season.
"He just provides energy and length, has really good hands, and played well in the playoffs in the past," Ainge said. "He was very excited to come to Boston. He was recruited by every contending playoff team. He really wanted to come [here]."
The Celtics, who have just 10 healthy bodies on the roster, could use the reinforcement at the moment. Further, Brian Scalabrine, who injured his neck during the Celtics' victory over the Nuggets last night, has been sent back to Boston for precautionary reasons. Ainge said Scalabrine does not have a concussion but is suffering from concussion-like symptoms. Scalabrine was sidelined with a concussion earlier this season.
Moore, who cleared waivers at 10 a.m., is flying from Sacramento to Los Angeles, where he is expected to catch up with the team late this morning (Pacific Standard Time). He will meet with the coaching staff and undergo his physical today, and should be at the shootaround tomorrow morning in preparation for tomorrow night's game vs. the Clippers.
The 33-year-old has averaged 5.9 points and 3.9 rebounds per game in his 11-year career. His best season was 2006-07, when he averaged 9.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game for the New Jersey Nets.
This season, the 7-footer averaged 3.5 points and 3.3 rebounds for the Kings in 46 games.
In 15 career playoff games, the former Nebraska star has averaged 10.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest while shooting 54.5 percent from the field.
This will be Moore's second stint with the Celtics, though his first go-round was brief: He played three games with the Green in 2002-03.
Moore, who will wear No. 7, is generally regarded as a quick and willing defensive player who plays with a lot of enthusiasm, but who can sometimes be overpowered by bigger players. Offensively, he is limited, but he moves well without the ball and typically shoots a high percentage.
Chad Finn of the Globe staff contributed to this report.

Personally, I know he will do well :) Danny has done it again! I have seen him play (Mikki Moore) and he's energy is priceless. This guys has proved to be "a diamond in the rough" with average teams and now that he has a chance with a playoff team, he will shine. Obviously, he's a better option to Patrick O'Bryant...and replaces P.J. Brown. I expect Doc rivers to use him more with Big Baby and Leon Powe when K.G and Perkins are on the bench resting. Next is Stephan Marbury. Lebron James and the Cavaliers will likely go down like the Mavericks a couple years ago...I know it! Not trying to be cocky but...another banner is in the making. Get some rest K.G., WE MISS YAH!
Good move-needed another 7 footer before March 1st playoff roster signing deadline. J.Smith situation to iffy w/buyout thing. One thing about Moore, he brings the energy every time out on the floor. This guy will give 110% every night. Kind of like a darker, taller Scal. We can only get better at this point. This year's championship will be even better than last year's because of all the adversity (and haters) we've been through.
Excellent...by no means with Mickey Moore be the "essential" missing ingredient but he is a 10-year pro who has come all the way from the developmental league to build a role in the NBA as a 14 minute, 4 rebound kind of guy. In addition, he has (i hope) the HUNGER for a ring!
And he gives us 6 more fouls to hammer Lamar Odom and Paul Gasoft in the finals. I can see Gasoft's face now!
I like this signing. He impressed me on the nets in 06-07. Obviously, this isn't a huge move, but I think he will be a great complimentary player on the bench. As we saw last night, Baby and Powe are improving every game, and with KG out, they have more time to get minutes.
I think the bench is becoming less of a question, besides maybe at the backup point guard position. Althought I like what Pruit has been doing recently. He rarely takes bad shots, and he's always looking to get Pierce and Allen the ball when he's in.
More power to you Celtics fans. M. Moore is a B#$#@%h. 5 points over his career. That sums it up!
lmao!
Lakers all day Baby!
he's no Mekhi Phifer
I can't wait to see how the Celtics, who are the game favorites, fare against the LA Clippers at Staples Center. I'm sure the Lakers fans will also be out in full force to cheer the Clippers on. If the Celtics still lose this one again (against a mediocre team) then I guess Staples Center will really turn out to be a major problem for them WHEN AND IF they make the 2009 NBA Finals (it seems though that Lebron and the Cavs won't be allowing this to happen) against the Lakers who are a cinch to win the Western Conference title again this year.
Bet DA believes he plays well against the Lakers. Let's hope the Celtics get that far in the playoffs.
Good signing here, Moore adds length and energy off the bench which is what we've sorely been needing. Now all we need is a scorer for the last roster spot.
We should have waited for Joe Smith, he would have been a better fit.
Gotta.
Gotta like enthusiastic, experienced defensive players. Mikki could either run away from the opportunity to be a Celtic or grab it. Gotta like a confident grabber.
Could be an interesting picup... Adds depth at the big positions and adds quickness to defend against the ever-increasing amount of quick/3 point shooting bigs. I like it! And a great time to bring him in with KG out for 2 - 3 weeks. Danny, another nice find.
The final piece of the puzzle has arrived! Thank you Danny for locking up this specimen of raw talent.
Definitely an upgrade from Patrick O’Bryant. A decent pickup for the price...
Was no one else available?? Seriously? we should have just kept O'Bryant!!!!!!
ok guys, moore was better then both smith and o'bryant, so relax we were enver going to get an all star and were'nt looking. he's longer then smith and most think a better defender, and God O'bryant could not even get off the bench so whoever say we should have kept him has no idea about the NBA. this is the bedwst we could have done and we did it
Yes, I love the gangster sign he is showing in the photo. Classy.
Biz - we didn't get him to score - we got him to rebound and beat the crap out of Bynum and that wuss Gasol in the Finals. See ya there, baby......
We don't need to write LMAO - we are the Champs...
Ok You can have our Diamond seriously :D LOL
Depressed Sactown Fan
Great sign, fills the spot left vacant by PJ Brown who was a key part of the puzzle when the Celtics took it last year. Between O'Bryant and Moore, definately Moore, he brings consistency and a Garnette like intensity which should really bring out the best in everyone around him. With the way the east is competing this year I don't know if it will make a difference, this year might be the year King James takes over.
he'll be a great fit, bit he's no Hank Finkel!!!
GREEN18! hopefully the lakers can make it to the finals so we can have a rematch
Matador, why do the Lakers fans continue to post on Boston.com. Why don't you
stay in LA with all of the other Lakers fans and stop posting on this site.
Lakers fan is shaq back in LA? Last time I checked Kobe cant win the big one with out Shaq. Celts will bring it home again
Susan-they constantly have to see what's going on with the soon to be 18-time world champs because they're:
A)scared to death
B)mad cuz they ugly
DI$CO-another shooter/scorer would be sweet...
I think it was a great pick up. We definitely needed size and length with the second unit and occassionally with the first unit. Perkins sometimes is foul proned. I still feel we need to add another player to the second unit. Marbury would solidify the 18th banner.....but the knicks are too stubborn along with Marbury holding on to a few million (this is coming from someone who doesn't even make a 100K...LOL). I guess the question is....would you rather have a championship ring or a few million dollars. Keep in mind you've had this contract for 6 years. Marbury, if you or any friends of yours is reading this. Don't go out like Allen Iverson or some of those other stars (no rings....but a great career). Can you imagine coming down and have Ray and Pierce on the wings, with KG in the middle. Last, DOC....you need to start playing Bill Walker more. He could provide a boost come playoff time. He's raw talent that does not get intiminated by the lights. Let him play!!!
Laker fans like to hang with champions - thats why they post here and not in LA. I love the Laker fans that dis Moore - they said the same thing about PJ Brown. All Celtics need now is for Kobe to STAY HEALTHY and we raise #18!
Good pickup for the celtics this year and by far a better player then o'bryant..joe smith would have been a sweet pick up but the buyout prob would not likely happen so the celtics snagged a good player for the playoff stretch...maybe we can work our way and grab another vet maybe say Starbury who knows well get someone though if not we got a championship team right here....Baby Babay!!!!
great sign he's rodman like. a pest and great energy.
Mikki Moore absolutely stinks!!!! He couldn't cut it with the Celtics years ago when they were horrible. Now they should of added someone who can provide some scoring, Antoine Walker is still sitting at home, you think he wouldn't mind to get a chance to play for a ring again??? He'd be a great addition!...better than Moore at least.
Great point, Susan.
Well... .he has the energy, which is what made the Celtics play so well. I believe he will be able to add BIG TIME this year. This is BAD news for Cleveland and LA.
Sweet!
opk3: I am a Celtics fan and love the signing. It gives us more of the "length" we need against teams like L.A., but let's be serious. At 225 pounds he is not going to "beat the crap" out of Bynum (285 pounds) or even Gasol (250 pounds). He will help by blocking some shots, rebounding, playing good defense, scoring a few baskets, and letting Big Baby and Powe play the wing spots rather than center. In short, he is as close to P.J. Brown as we could have hoped for.
Susan the reason why "Matador" is posting to this site is simple... The Lakers, willing to admit it or not, are still worried about what the Celts CAN and WILL do them come the championship series THIS year.
Typical LA fan... they just can't figure out WHEN to jump on the band wagon. Mmm Hmmm!
This is an ok signing, but had to be done. There currently is no one else available who is 7' . Joe Smith is a better offensive player but that is not what this signing is about. This singning is about defense and rebounding. Moore is definetly more atheletic than Smith and a little bit taller. Of the teams the Celtics could potentaially face in the Conference final or NBA Finals none really have a big, bruising center that will outright overpower Moore. His height should help atleast make it a little more difficult for teams to get easy basket at the rim.
I live in SoCal, transplanted Beantown fan
B-ball fans here are obssessed with the Celtics...their success against the Lakers drives them crazy...they start driving around with those little yellow Lakers flags on their cars about March 15th and they're old, tattered and thrown away by June.
Last year, they were used as crying towels and will be again this year.
Great pickup with Moore! Can we start nicknaming Danny Ainge "Little Red"?
Hey Bizmark, the C's need role/bench players, we already have enough stars... ask the Lakers.
Mikki Moore? Mikki=less
Laker fans post anywhere BUT LA. Why? Well as a transplant from Brockton to San Diego, they have no outlets. LA Times Sports Section is horrible. Sports Radio in LA (especially 570AM) is full of loud, idiotic, pathetic ass-kissers (including many national wannabe rejects) who still insist the best team LOST the finals last year).
Thank the Lord above for the Internet so we transplants can read these blogs in the Globe and listen to WEEI online.
I like the signing... and they could still add Joe Smith. Though I would rather DA sign somebody who can guard LeBron or Kobe. We are painfully thin on guys (only Pierce) who can defend that 6'7 6'8 scorer like LeBron or Kobe. Either that or develop Bill Walker a little more. Although he did it last year, and may be able to do it again, you can't expect the Truth to guard Lebron in the E.Conf. Finals the whole series and then come back and guard Kobe in the Finals, w/out some help.
Celtser - my comment was not for you - I fully realize the limitations of the player, but some people on this blog make it personal, and we have to say things like that to shut them up. PJ was still better, but I like the signing . I think we should ALSO sign Joe Smith - why not, we only have 10 bodies right now!!
Hey Bizmark, the C's need role/bench players, we already have enough stars... ask the Lakers.
Good point KPtheCHG22..they all just crack me up. I still can't get over how last year in the Finals the p.a. announcer at the Rapists'..I mean Staples' Center had to encourage the crowd to make noise. Pitiful group of followers-can't really even call them fans. Back to Moore "beating the crap" out of guys-he is wiry. Not a big dude, so he'll have to continue to use his length and energy to get the job done.
Who says you cannot get both Mikki Moore AND Joe Smith?
One does not exclude the other, and nobody knows if Joe Smith or Stephon Marbury will be bought out in time to be playoff eligible...
opk3 - You were shut up by your own fans. Amusing.
I like how you talk as though you didn't just start posting for the first time last week. It is wildly effective.
So are the Celts going to lure Anthony Peeler out of retirement next?
johnmorse, when you need length and a bigman, do you choose the 7 footer with rebounding and defense, or choose the width you get from 6'9 Antoine? hmmmm we already have a fat big man in Big Baby, Toine can barely play his own position nevermind center. Mikki Moore didnt last in 02-03, 6 years ago, when he was 6 years younger and in his 4th or 5th season I believe. Bigs take about 5 yrs to get it then they progress from there, unless they are freaks of nature i.e. Dwight Howard. Check out Perkins, he took some time to get it. There are also those bigs that have a good season or 2 and parlay that into a nice deal (see Mark Blount, Marc Jackson) then disappear after they sign. Mikki Moore is average (for a center), 7 ft, and an energy player. Antoine Walker is below average (for a PF/SF), fat and lazy. And Mikki Moore can throw up the Boston 3 sign already!
I like this signing. Since Mikki is tall and athletic I am hoping Rondo could find some Alley Op pass to him like Garnett.
Good viewpoint CJ-finally someone from the West coast not rambling on like a moron. I totally understand CJ. We just have a couple clowns that simply come here whenever something unfortunate happens with the C's and they gloat. People tend to let it get to them sometimes....
To those who think that Mikki Moore is the answer he's not. He is the Solution!!! We had a need and he was the best Solution to the problem,we couldn't sign Joe Smith because he is under contract to OKC and they haven't even tried to buy him out. There has been a Byron Russell sighting! If the Celtics want a James Posey type, then I'd suggest they invite Byron in for a look see,he says he's in shape for about 15 minutes a game!!! Good mid-range jumper and a better than average defender.
Mikki Moore, a good sign, will help the bench during the remaining season and be a help during the playoffs. Now, all we need is the two sick parties to come to a compromise in New York. Then KG can accept his old teammate from Minnesota, Stephon Marbury, and that will put us over the top
We will beat the Lakers again for the only reason. We play Defense.Mikki gives us defense . Defense wins Championships . 17 ring a bell Laker fans. Ah Ah
I think the Spurs are going to win the West.
I love Mikki's sister Mandy
Is Mikki's gang symbol gesture in the pic on the front page (5:30) in opposition or Pierce's?
I, too, live out here in CA now. I wouldn't say obsessed. I would say ignorant about the game. My high school GIRLS all want to play like Kobe, and don't understand when their coach takes them out and says, "move the ball and stop standing around." They give us NO credit for winnning last year. Kobe on the radio said, "that team that beat us last year." While Jordan Farmar whined that, "we were only one game from turning that series around." Really Jordan, what series were you watching? I do hate the little banners on the car , though. I equate Laker fans with Yankee fans in the following way. They are Laker fans, NOT basketball fans, and they know every stat about the Lakers, but none about any other team. They were "not worried" at all last year, and "not worried" at all this year - after all they have Kobe. Great comment from dbmedia, and I concur!!!
I think the Moore signing can help us. There were not a whole lot of bigs out there, and I don' think the Joe Smith deal was going to materialize. Let's hope Cleveland doesn't pick him up (rumor). I agree we still need one more player, and it appears that might be Marbury. Again, he could end up being a blessing or a curse. Regardless, I think if we pick up another quality point guard and avoid any major injuries as well as get back a 100% KG, we will be poised for another run at a championship banner. We really have a solid "team" whereas once you get past Lebron, I think Cleveland will struggle. If Lebron ever went down, the Cavs would be dead meat. KG went down and we're still winning (14-2 w/o KG in 08-09).
I wish Los Angeles would get a football team so all of the "visitors" to Boston.com wouldn't have so must invested in their local basketball team. Honestly some of these Lakers fans who are constantly chiming in at this location really need to get a grip.
It WILL be Boston/LA in the finals and the team that shows the biggest nuggets will win. It's as simple as that. Last year all the experts had the Lakers taking out Boston in 5 or 6 games and clearly that didin't come to fruition. To LA's credit it has made adjustments this year. The Lakers came to Boston and won an overtime game which was very hotly contested, could have gone either way and was hardly decisive in determing who the better team was. The playoffs will bring with them a higher level on intensity. Last year Los Angeles wilted this year may be different but for now I'll need more convincing.
You know a football team in LA would be a great concept. I hope it happens soon so our football can go out there and beat the crap out of them too.
It's great to be a sports fan of Boston sports, isn't it?
mikki moore?!?! hahahahahahahahahahaha
I'm not feelin' it.
Nick, I liked you better when you played for Utah. You should have picked Norm Nixon - he was okay. My last comment was meant tongue in cheek for "fans" like you who need to get a life and go blog where Laker fans go - wherever that is. When I blog is none of your business - and I live out here in CA now, so I get this BS all day long. For the record. - Mikki Moore will not beat the crap out of anyone. He was acquired to give Perkins and KG some rest in the playoffs, play D and rebound, and not make mistakes. I hope that makes everyone happy. It was YOU who called him a nasty name, anyway. And if you read all these blogs, seriously, man, get out of your Mom's basement and get a life!!!! Geez!!
or should I say...
I'm not feelin' the Clippers reject.
hog
whr here... miki moore ... this is your answer to Lamar Odum & Paul Gasol ... c'om on village people ... danny got hosed ... might as well route for BC making the Big Dance than with miki moore being your answer to my man Lamar Odum and Big Paul Gosal ... bye, bye Celts ...
Mikki Moore is the solution - do you hear the collective laughter from Sactown. I know who the heck are we to laugh since we are last in the league for years to come. But seriously this is some funny s@#t. Mikki Moore is the solution... I think Paul Gasol and Laker gangs are having a laugh too and Boston we hate to agree with the Lakers good luck
opk3 - That's odd, because I live in Boston and everyone I talk to out here thinks we only won because we met the Lakers when they weren't at full strength. Huh. Go figure.
Setting aside your game of make believe, do you honestly think the series last year plays itself out even remotely the same when you throw in Bynum and his 13 ppg/10 rpg? No, you don't. But feel free to keep on deluding yourselves. At least we aren't blaming the refs for every loss on the books.
One last thing - you fans seem to be conveniently forgetting the ghost town that was a Celtic home game before last year. For the 23 years before that, actually. So let's not pretend here that you bandwagon riders are really basketball fans, because you are not. And we all know you'll disappear next year as fast as you came.
Bad move Danny. This guy sucks!!!
Wow, these Lakers fans are the epitome of pathetic. Can't wait until they fail once again this year.
Laker fans why are you so bitter? Marbury next .Get worried Laker fans.
Has anyone posting here ever seen this stiff play? Defense? Play tough against Pau & Odom? Rebound? All he does is pose. Yikes!
Gee Lakers fans think this is a bad move. They are so smart, who could doubt them?
I was hpoing for Boston to sign some gross greasy Euro goon like LA has, you cant have enough Eurodorks
great move
boy, the way you Celtic fans talk about him, it makes me wonder how this "defensive" wizard, rebounding machine was pretty much a bench player on the worse team in the league. He is a class act though and does have energy. You got a good guy, but I think your expectations as a player are a tad high.
Devlin-you rock. Van Exel..speak for yourself..maybe the 3 friends you have (actually 2- your moms doesn't count) "everyone I talk to" ..think that. I sat through those games when the C's were a bad team. You often tell people on this blog "Give up with telling us Lakers fans to leave...blah blah" Well the bandwagon comments you use every other post are sorry and tired too. As a matter of fact, I'll really call you out-if you're this die-hard Lakers fan, I'll challenge you to a free-throw shooting contest. Come down to Good Times in Somerville. If you can beat me in a free-throw shooting contest, I'll stop blogging here. If you loose, you stop blogging here. What do you say tough guy?
Don't you love the false bravado by lakers fans. Two regular season wins for their team against us is good but seriously the way we totally annihilated them only 8-months ago is why they fear us so much
Nick - I have been a fan since the Cowens era. Through thick and thin - not that that is ANY of your business. These blogs are not supposed to be personal. Get a life, man. #72 - Great job!!!! I want some of that free throw action - be back home in April for a few days
Nicky again - let me get this straight. IF Garnett cannot compete in the Finals and the Fakers win, YOU will say it was tainted because we did not have our full team? If your mother';s basement doesn't work out, you could be a stand up comic!!!..As a life-long Celtic fan I will say the only game I have whined about officiating all year was that atrocity when KG rould out with 4 mins to go- don 't you DARE speak for me!
Nick Van Exel - I doubt any Celtic fan would whine like that, because we all know - which apparently you don't - if Bynum is helathy, NO Gasol. They only made that trade becaue Bynum was hurt. They said it out here on the radio all last winter - if Bynum is healthy, they do NOT make that trade. So, yes we would still have won. Gasol is a better player.....c'mon Nick is that the best you got???????????I want in on that free throw contest, too - Nicky!
Maybe we need to let the Laker fans be our Gm. That way they can bet us . No chance that happens . Ah Ah . Danny is doing quiet well . Here comes Marbury
Wow. So is this what tough guys do in Boston these days - challenge people to free throw shooting contests? Damn. What happened - your schedule too tight for a pie eating contest or Scrabble?
I could give two craps whether whoever you are blogs here or not.
NIck - STILL avoiding the issue. You are in denial, man. You know, denial, like defense, something the Lakers are known for :)............If Bynum is healthy, no Gasol - hey, maybe if we win this year, Phony Phil will retire (again) and the NBA will be a better place. Nick - take a joke, man - how can I challenge you to a FT contest, I live in LA now. Also, not a tough guy - wouldn't waste my time. As my father always said, "Son, don't waste your time arguing with an idiot." So, there you have it - I will not argue with you any longer, because..........well my dad said so.
opk3 - I wasn't talking to you in #77. But it was great to see you get worked up.
LOL at opk3..Dick Van Exel is all talk. He's still mad that he got picked last in kickball in 4th grade. Yeah opk.. Good Times in Somerville has a sweet indoor hoop and I also think they still have pop-a-shot too. It would be fun to get all the local Lakers' fans and the Celts fans from the blog to go down and shoot some hoops for fun/bragging rights. Unfortunately, most of the clowns that claim to be "real Lakers fans" are internet tough guys-all talk behind the screenname.
opk3 - That's odd, because I live in Boston and everyone I talk to out here thinks we only won because we met the Lakers when they weren't at full strength. Huh. Go figure.
Setting aside your game of make believe, do you honestly think the series last year plays itself out even remotely the same when you throw in Bynum and his 13 ppg/10 rpg? No, you don't. But feel free to keep on deluding yourselves. At least we aren't blaming the refs for every loss on the books.

So let's not pretend here that you bandwagon riders are really basketball fans, because you are not. And we all know you'll disappear next year as fast as you came.
Ummm...Seriously, Was the NBA Front office going to allow the Lakers to play 6 men at once? If Bynum plays, Gasol sits...same result. Idiot.
NIck - ..................................................................................................
Love from my father!!
"whr here... miki moore ... this is your answer to Lamar Odum & Paul Gasol ... c'om on village people ... danny got hosed ... might as well route for BC making the Big Dance than with miki moore being your answer to my man Lamar Odum and Big Paul Gosal ... bye, bye Celts ... "
Wow, whr proved himself an idiot.....No, Moore is NOT the answer to Obum and Crusty hair. He is PART of the answer. Garnett and Perkins are the answer to them. Moore, Big B, Powe are the answer when garnett and Perks are sitting. Remember, all the Celts have to worry about is ONE of those two playing at any given time. Both won't be on the floor at once. Just like last year, Buh bye Lakers!! ( wish the West would at LEAST advanced a decent team to the Finals.
Seeing as my first post was deleted this morning (who the hell knows why), let's try this again...
opk3, congrats on being the one fan to enjoy the glory that was the 15-67 1996 Celtics. You must have been on a first name basis with the popcorn vendor. A "mother's basement" comment! That's great stuff. Keep up with that fresh material and you might get a shot writing for Carson Daly. If you are not familiar with the whining of the Celtics fans, you might want to read a post or two on this blog. You won't find one loss by the Celts that isn't accompanied by deafening cries over the officiating. I'm not sure which Top 40 station you get your sports news from, but the Lakers were in talks with Memphis about acquiring Gasol weeks before Bynum's injury. Anything else?
Tell me again - when did Garnett "rould" out?
I really can't believe all of the scared Laker fan postings. You people need a panty change. I would never look at any LA news posting, because I could care less about you or your team or your governator.
Boston fans don't post in LA because you are no threat to us.
Can't wait for 18
PS we don't hire EUROTRASH like Gasoft. We keep our money in the American economy
lakers fans know it. We are deeper team now and they are scared. Bye bye Lakers, you wont even make it to the finals.
Um, Dave? Its called a sports page. Read it. I'll walk you through this. Who were the Lakers starting five this year? Don't know, do you? Then let's just try to stray away from the "was the NBA Front office going to allow the Lakers to play 6 men at once? If Bynum plays, Gasol sits" comments, eh?
Nick - FOULED out - you are making this personal
No injury - No Bynum - this from 710 ESPN radio in LA!! Questions?
Don't know Carson Daly - I told you - I live in LA now - and even the people out here say Kobe is a whiner. Don't lump me in with other Celtics fans - I am a basketball fan and I told you - we LOST the Utah game - plain and simple....no whining.....speaking of whining - there is the KING, Phony Phil and the "I Want my job back" family singers. You are in denial, man and stop making this personal
"That's odd, because I live in Boston and everyone I talk to out here thinks we only won because we met the Lakers when they weren't at full strength. Huh. Go figure."
WHO THE HELL IS DAVE G TALKING TO IN BOSTON??????????????????
phone conversations with people in LA don't count
Laker fans are laughable. seriously, go put on more purple
Yes, Dan, you are a deeper team now that you have picked up loose change from two sub-.500 teams. Go get 'em.
Dave G - was that comment for me?
opk3, do you get all your sports facts from Vic the Brick? He's schtick, not a news source. Nice try though.
No one outside your dinner table says Kobe is a whiner. However, read the blog and you will see for yourself that Celtics beat writers and their fans have picked out refs that they think pick on them and chime on it regularly. Its funny, but mostly pathetic.
"Remember, all the Celts have to worry about is ONE of those two playing at any given time. Both won't be on the floor at once."
Dave G., do you even watch basketball? Who the hell do you think the Lakers starting five was the first 2/3 of the season? Another brilliant post from a brilliant mind in Beantown...
nick, that wound will never heal. You guys are championship wannabes...we blew you by 34 last year and we will do it again. Marbury is like 100 times better than sasha and farmar at the same time. Your bench is busted. Is going nowhere and San Antonio will win the west anyways. Go home and cry.
Nick, I want to hear it from you, who won last year? who won the NBA championship? tell me
Van Exel is like a scab that you pick at until it's fully exposed. Infected, pussy and easy to irritate..lmao..Kid, go somewhere where people might actually pay attention to you-like the soup line at the Salvation Army. Just curious, are you an implant? Or are you one of these guys with no loyalty that roots for the best team every year..? I bet you were a Bull's fan in the 90's too right..? If you really are a lifelong Lakers fan, which we all doubt, your team will be doing this June what it did last June-ducking down and screaming like little girls in the back of the team bus after losing again. Probably in San Antone though...
NIck - you have selected reading. My students say Kobe is a whiner - and they love him. My hoop team says Kobe is a whiner, and they want to BE him. My dinner table is not filled with hoop talk - not that that is ANY of your business. UH - 2nd in the league in technical fouls? That would be Kobe. That is not whining? He won't even say the name Celtics. I heard him on the radio say, "That team that beat us last year.!!!!!" OMG what a whiner - and a despicable human being to boot. And, DON'T lump me in with other people. Your point is taken - it's just wrong!!!! Actually, my source is Denholm and Long - nice try back at ya!!
Laker fans,..this is a Celtic blog. Don't you have anything better to do? Seriously. You are stinking up this page.
Now granted,...you beat us twice this season. However,....Do you think any of us are worried in a seven game series? I am more worried about Cleveland than I am you. Go stink up your own site.
I like this pickup ... his stats are a lot like PJ Brown's and we all know what a great move that was!
A veteran player who WANTS TO BE HERE and help win another Championship AND play within the context of this teams priorities!
Marc - Amen brother - but they don't go away - and they are living in denial - it could be worse, though, you could be living out here like me and have to hear it ALL the time!!!!!!!
Dan - sure, I'll say it. The Celtics beat the Lakers when they were not at full strength. With Bynum in the lineup, we are looking at our second straight title. Is that what you were looking for? There is a good reason there is so much panic on this blog.
"Infected, pussy and easy to irritate..lmao" LMAO? Really, 19.7? Pretty low level humor you got going there. You must just break into uncontrollable laughter when the bus driver asks for your token.
"He won't even say the name Celtics." Would Kobe mentioning your team's name soothe your delicate feelings? Who the hell gives a crap? He's probably just messing with the Celtics anyway. And as for your LA radio source - sorry, but Denholm and Long never said that. But keep up with the fiction - its good stuff.
Marc - you are a fish. This blog is your barrel.
I HEARD THEM SAY IT - IT IS NOT FICTION AND YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.
KOBE LIVING IN DENIAL IS THE SAME AS YOU LIVING IN DENIAL
IF YOU WIN THIS YEAR, AND KG IS HURT - DO WE GET TO SAY THAT "WE WOULD BE LOOKING AT OUR 2ND STRAIGHT TITLE IF WE WERE AT FULL STRENGTH?" NO, BECAUSE CELTIC FANS WOULD NEVER SAY THAT
TALK ABOUT WHINING - GEEZ - GO BACK TO SLEEP NICK - KOBE IS A WHINER, PHIL IS A WHINER, BUT YOU TAKE THE CAKE
Christ, opk3... did you just have a stroke?
"IF YOU WIN THIS YEAR, AND KG IS HURT - DO WE GET TO SAY THAT 'WE WOULD BE LOOKING AT OUR 2ND STRAIGHT TITLE IF WE WERE AT FULL STRENGTH?' NO, BECAUSE CELTIC FANS WOULD NEVER SAY THAT"
You gotta be effing kidding me with that. Do you even read the comments around here? You can't possibly say with a straight face that the weaklings on this blog wouldn't universally unite to whine at decibels not before heard if the Lakers beat your Celts while they were shorthanded. Hell, the Celtic bloggers can't even handle a regular season loss without passing off the blame to Stern or the refs. That being said, the Lakers fans would prefer to beat you at full strength if you make it to the finals.
BTW, you'll find the "caps lock" button on the left side of your keyboard.
Nick loves the attention. It's pretty sad you have to resort to being a total dick to get it. If you were halfway respectful and stated your opinion with some maturity, people might actually do the same with you. So I'll be over at the bball court at Good Times on Friday around 7pm. We can watch the C's trounce the Pacers and shoot some free-throws for beers...opk3 you're invited too. lol
Nick - maybe you call be a newbie, but I have been READING these blogs for weeks. I have not seen a lot of whining except from you - I have not read a lot of worry - except from you - I have not heard a lot of stupid, insulting - avoiding the issue questions - except from you. You are lumping me into a heap again, and I don't like it. This is not supposed to be personal, but I agree with #104 - you are an attention-seeking-whining-disrespectful-insulting total dick!!!
HAVE A NICE DAY!!
I guess I hurt opk3 delicate feelings again. Damn. Do you find it difficult to teach your students while sobbing uncontrollably?
Not sure everyone should be looking ahead too far. Getting out of the east was not easy last season and I believe the road to the Finals will be as rocky as last season. Cleveland is clearly a year wiser and could well end up with home court. The only imminent series where Mikey Moore will really come into play is vs. Orlando. His 8-10 minutes of energy could tax the Magic enough to make an impact. I don't see another matchup where he really is going to make a big difference unless San Antonio can somehow make the west theirs. And thats another story in of itself.
