Celtics forward Brian Scalabrine fell to the floor awkwardly after being fouled during a shot attempt by Denver's Johan Petro with 3:35 left in the first quarter. The immediate concern was that Scalabrine could have suffered another concussion, which has been an issue of late. While Scal got up slowly, but told Celtics coach Doc Rivers he was fine before nailing two free throws. The Celtics shot 43.5 percent from the field in the first quarter and made four 3-pointers. The Nuggets were as down as many as 14 points and shot only 27.8 percent.
