Coach Doc Rivers delivered a loud wakeup call to the Celtics early in the game against the Phoenix Suns Sunday afternoon.

The Celtics arrived for the game at about 10 a.m., two hours before tipoff. After the Celtics surrendered four layups and committed a foul on a breakaway, Rivers called a timeout and chastised center Kendrick Perkins and the other starters.

The Celtics gave up another transition, falling behind, 11-4, before Paul Pierce's free throw started a 14-6 rally. Glen Davis' free throw gave the Celtics their first lead, 18-17, with 6:23 left in the opening quarter.
