KG out 2-3 weeks

Posted by Marc J. Spears, Globe Staff February 21, 2009 12:59 AM

Celtics president Danny Ainge said early this morning that injured forward Kevin Garnett will be out 2-3 weeks with a posterior muscle strain of the right knee. The All-Star suffered the injury during the second quarter of Thursday's loss at Utah.

"Rest and ice for KG," Ainge said.

The Celtics could be interested in free agent forward/center Mikki Moore, who clears waivers on Monday after being cut by Sacramento, and Oklahoma City forward Joe Smith if he is ever waived.

On free agents, Ainge said: "Nothing new."

  1. ---"2 or 3 weeks"
    "Rest and Ice"---

Some pretty bold statements from a guy who hasn't seen the MRI yet.
Dr. Brian McKeon won't even examine KG until later this morning.

  1. Great news! Take care of the knee KG! We'll miss watching you play for the next couple of weeks but we can't wait to see you dominate the playoffs again.

  1. LMAO at opk3. He just needs attention. Sad isn't it? Lakers fans are pathetic-they spend all their time worrying about what the Celtics are doing! I guess 131-92 when it really matters will do that to you. KG will be back stronger than ever in June, and once again, we will trounce the competition and hoist another banner to the rafters in October 2009. The Lakers have a good team this year, but not good enough. Looks like Joe Smith is going to be here soon too.

Sounds like a bitter Laker fan wishing what happened to Bynum upon Garnett. Hoping for rival's star player to be injured is so weak. Let's say Garnett is out for the season; does that make you feel better? It would take away from any potential Finals victory. And don't try to throw Bynum out there because the Lakers did just fine without him last year.

  1. Well, at least you TRIED to be clever, opk3. There's always next time. Eventually someone somewhere will laugh.

  1. "And don't try to throw Bynum out there because the Lakers did just fine without him last year."

You couldn't possibly be suggesting that having Bynum in the finals last year would not have made a difference. That would be idiotic, and Classless does not make idiotic statements.

  1. Classless,

When have I ever hoped for anything like that???
Seriously, you are going a bit overboard with some of your allegations on here.
I would never be happy to see anyone go down because of injury, come on man.

Nobody has yet to make that list of mine, but your close, Classless...
    so cool it!!!!!!!!!!
