Nelson injury update

Posted by Gary Dzen, Boston.com Staff February 3, 2009 12:22 PM

Orlando Magic guard Jameer Nelson underwent an MRI on Tuesday morning, which revealed a torn right labrum, according to a press release from the Magic.

Nelson dislocated his right shoulder with 9:11 remaining during the third quarter of the Magic’s loss vs. Dallas Monday night. The course of treatment for the injury will be determined during the next week. At that point, his playing status will be evaluated.

Nelson's injury potentially opens up a spot on the Eastern Conference All-Star team for another guard. Celtics Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo, along with Cleveland's Mo Williams, are all potential replacements.

  1. Stern will add Mo Williams, even though Ray and Rondo deserve it more.

  1. How about we hold off the whining until there is something to whine about, eh Celts fans?

  1. Nick, calm yourself. I would argue that Rondo probably should go before either Ray or Mo, and that all three should be there before Rashard Lewis, or even Pierce. But Stern will add Mo, because the Cavs should probably be repped by more than one player and the C's and Magic each have two.

  1. I think they will name Kobe as the replacement. That way he can accidentally injure Garnett's leg and even the conferences up for the playoff run.

  1. Who cares, all I want is a big trophy in June. I'd want to tell the players to not go even if they were chosen. Jobs not finished guys, no play time until your work is done.

All Star game is just a boost for shoe sales, pointless fan voting, you have to wade through adverts to vote like a child, it is ridiculous.

  1. I'd rather see Ray and Rondo on vacation resting up for the stretch run. It is after all just a meaningless exhibition game. WE know how good and deserving they are. Who cares if fans in other cities don't get to appreciate them.
