Rondo returning tonight

Posted by Frank Dell'Apa, Globe Staff March 13, 2009 11:31 AM

Point guard Rajon Rondo said during the Celtics' shootround this morning that he plans to play tonight against Memphis after missing the past two games with a sprained right ankle.

"I'm going to give it a go," Rondo said.

Rondo suffered the injury a week ago against Cleveland. Forward Glen Davis, who also has a sprained right ankle, is expected to miss his second straight game. It is uncertain when he will return.

  1. IMO this is an awful move...they are clearly rushing him back because of the recent lose to Miami. Not only will sitting Rondo give him time to rest and become healthy but it is also the perfect chance for Marbury to be the starter and master the system. Marbury has more raw talent then Rondo and I think that once he plays a little more he will be the perfect complament to the rest of the big 3.

  1. As we can all clearly see just like Garnett, Pierce and Allen have been saying, the MVP to Celtic success is Rondo. His not being in the line-up impacts the team more than any other player.

  1. Wade - Marbury has more raw talent than Rondo?? You've got to be joking! Marbury is pretty close to washed up and Rondo is one of the top 3-4 PGs in the entire league.

  1. I reckon he should sit this one just to be sure the ankle is better. No point coming back too early only to do more damage (especially against the Grizz)!! But I guess Doc and the team know the injury better than us! Go Celts!!!

  1. Rrrrr Rondo..rondo..rrrrRondo. Celtics are 2-0 in their last couple of Friday the 13 games. One of those being the incredible comeback vs the Fakers in Game 4 of last year Finals. We embarassed them in front of a typically dead Staple's Center crowd. I love how they have the "theater lighting" so you can't tell just how lame all the fans are. The PA guy has to coax them to cheer. God I love Boston. Our fans kick a$$...

  1. Boy Oh Boy, do the Celtics need Rondo back!!!

  1. hog,
If the Clippers proved anything its that the Celtics need to bring their "A" game when playing the Western conference powers.

  1. Love the Celts w/ Rondo on the floor....he's a freak...that being said, I hope/trust they're not rushing him. Like someone already posted, these games could really continue to provide Steph some time to get his legs and rhythm back - not to mention his j.

  1. Nick,
We may be looking at a a new L.A./Boston rivalry.
In fact, I am guaranteeing that the Celtics' record next year, will be closer to the Clippers than the Lakers...

    You heard it here first!!!!!!!

How about that hotel in Colorado Kobe seems to like so much?

  1. Again with the "more raw talent than Rondo". Why waste precious calories exerting the energy to type those words? Maybe if this was a Slamball league that statement would ring true...

  1. HAHAHA, a$$! That is great stuff, and fresh. Did you dust off those old Leno monologues from 2004?

  1. And your posts are about exactly what, a$$? Really, re-reading your own posts before you hit that submit button is never a bad idea.

Great to have you back. But count me as someone who never thought you had to run away and hide in the first place.

  1. That's 5 comments on one post - Jerry
Care to say anything at all about basketball?

Haven't mentioned your lack of Bynum in the Finals today - why not go with that

    Posted by nickvanexelisana$$ March 17, 09 12:05 PM
  1. a$$ - do yourself a favor and read a couple posts on this blog. Go ahead. We'll wait... Alright. Now how many comments did you find by yourself commenting on the sport of basketball? Go ahead, share with everyone. That's right. Zero.

Its a nice day in Burbank today.

  1. Burbank? I'm from Worcester!!
I already said my blogs aren't about hoop

  1. Sounds fantastic. And I never claimed every one of my posts was about basketball, so this works out great. Keep firing away, champ!

BTW, where were you hiding for 2 weeks? Or were you grounded?

Posted by Nick Van Exel March 17, 09 04:02 PM
  1. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    you are a friggin comedian
where do you hide on the day these blogs come out, because I notice most of your comments come like, 4, 5 days after when no one is reading them anymore - too bad cuz u r just 2 funny
    HAHAHAHAHAHA

    Posted by nickvanexelisana$$ March 17, 09 05:36 PM
  1. Thanks, buddy. Yeah, I actually don't think I've ever waited 4-5 days to submit a comment - but that would be funny if I did! You know what would be hysterical? If I stopped posting for 2 weeks, then started commenting on a post 3 days old. Like this one! I'm sure we'd all have a good laugh if that happened. And I love how you used the number 2 instead of "too"! Where does this fresh stuff come from? I think you might have to start sending that resume out - Jimmy Fallon could use some comedy writing like that!

Posted by Nick Van Exel March 17, 09 07:09 PM
  1. ok - 3 days old - either way, only a wuss makes comments when he knows no one else can read them -
I don't count cuz only YOU read my comments, anyway - by design
Been on vacation, Nick, unlike you, I have a life away from Blog-ville

    Right.

    Keep spinning, champ!

Another useless, pointless comment - CHUMP

  1. Hey - WTF? I thought I was going to get another brilliant "FOOL" comment. You actually rubbed a couple of brain cells to formulate two sentences this time? Those "special" tutoring sessions are showing dividends already.
