Big Baby out of USA camp

Posted by Marc J. Spears, Globe Staff July 16, 2009 12:30 PM

Celtics forward Glen Davis will not be participating in USA Basketball senior national team's mini-camp of young prospects next week because he is still a free agent and playing could put his situation at risk, according to his agent John Hamilton today. The restricted free agent seems to getting interest from Boston, Detroit, Utah and Portland, but no offer has been made. Sources say Portland's Brandon Roy, New York's David Lee, the Lakers' Andrew Bynum and New Orleans' David West will also miss the camp from July 22-25 in Los Vegas. Golden State forward Anthony Randolph, who recently scored 42 points in a summer league game, has been invited to participate. Celtics guard Rajon Rondo and center Kendrick Perkins also have previously declined an invite due to Perkins' wedding on July 25. Boston, Detroit, Utah and Portland appear to be interested in Davis, but no offer has been made.
