Former Celtics guard Delonte West, now with the Cavaliers, was arrested last night on weapons possession charges near his home in Maryland, according to a report on the Cleveland Plain-Dealer's website.

Authorities told the Washington Post that West, riding a three-wheeled motorcycle, cut off a police officer at 10 p.m. Thursday night in Prince George's County, Md.

According to the Post's report . . .

. . . [an] officer pulled him over, and West told the officer that he was carrying a handgun in his waistband.

That prompted the officer to call for backup, and investigators found that West was actually carrying three guns: a Beretta 9mm in his waistband, a Ruger .357 strapped to his leg and a shotgun in a guitar case slung over his back.

West was also cited for making an unsafe lane change. He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 20.

West, 26, spent three seasons with the Celtics after he was selected in the first round out of St. Joseph's in 2004-05 NBA Draft. He has a career scoring average of 10.2 points per game.
