Final Celtics 92, Heat 85

The Celtics responded from an early fourth-quarter deficit to nab one of their more impressive wins of the season. Kevin Garnett scored 24 on 11-for-12 shooting from the field and Paul Pierce added 15 points. Kendrick Perkins scored 14.

For Miami, Dwyane Wade scored 27 and Michael Beasley added 18, but Beasley did not score in the final 8 minutes after scoring the first 11 points of the fourth period for Miami. The Heat shot just 42 percent and got just 11 points from the bench,


Fourth quarter, 25.0, Celtics 92-85


Following a KG jumper, Paul Pierce hits a free throw to cinch the game.


Fourth quarter, 49.8, Celtics 89-85

Dwyane Wade hit two free throws after a loose-ball foul call and Ray Allen responded by missing his sixth 3-pointer of the game. Jermaine O'Neal missed two free throws and the Celtics have the ball.


Fourth quarter, 1:38, Celtics 89-83


The Celtics have responded big-time from Michael Beasley's early fourth-quarter onslaught and are on a 11-1 run since trailing, 82-78, with 4:27 left. Kevin Garnett dropped in a jumper and Ray Allen just gave Boston a 6-point lead with a 3-pointer at 1:38. It was his first make in six tries.

Fourth quarter, 2:58, Tied at 82

The Celtics are getting some stops and have scored the last four points, the last bucket a leaning Kevin Garnett layup. The Celtics are 4 for 19 from the 3-point line but haven't taken too many. They are just missing.

Fourth quarter, 6:16, Tied at 76


Michael Beasley dominated the early period, scoring the first 9 points of the quarter and Miami raced to a 74-69 lead. The Celtics have struck back behind two acrobatic layups from Rajon Rondo.

End of third quarter, Celtics, 67-65


Boston appears to have withstood Miami's third-quarter tide is holding on to a 2-point lead, barely. Eddie House gave the Celtics a 65-62 lead with a key 3-pointer and Kevin Garnett added a thunderous dunk. Dwyane Wade scored 10 of Miami's 17 points in the third quarter.

Third quarter, 3:55, Tied at 62

Dwyane Wade is taking over the game and the Celtics are misfiring on offense. Wade has scored 10 of Miami's 14 points in the quarter while the Celtics are frustrated offensively and Rajon Rondo has missed a couple of easy opportunities to score.

Third quarter, 8:00, Celtics 59-53

Dwyane Wade has gone on a 5-0 run to cut the Celtics' lead to 6 and Doc Rivers called a quick timeout to stop the tide. Wade has 18 points.

Third quarter, 9:50, Celtics 59-48

The Celtics have begun the quarter with a 4-0 run and gotten some key defensive stops and are beginning to resemble that dominant defensive team we saw flashes of earlier in the season. Kevin Garnett has 16 points.


Halftime, Celtics 55-48

Eddie House's 3-pointer rolled off the rim Kevin Garnett swooped in for the putback to give the Celtics their biggest lead of the game, 7 points. Garnett, looking as good as he has all season, has 14 points in 16 minutes and Paul Pierce has 12. Dwyane Wade leads Miami with 13 but doesn't seem like himself tonight.


Second quarter, 24.8, Celtics 53-48


The Celtics are taking care of the ball, running with efficiency, and scoring nearly at will against the defenseless Heat. And they are concentrating more on defense,


Second quarter, 1:52, Celtics 51-45


The Celtics are beginning to get stops and are scoring fastbreak points and are on a 13-4 run. Boston is shooting 66 percent from the field and have received 12 points apiece from Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett.

Second quarter, 8:26, Celtics 36-35

Udonis Haslem and Dwyane Wade have combined for 18 points and Miami has led most of the way but a rare 3-pointer from Marquis Daniels has given the Celtics a 1-point lead. Boston is shooting over 70 percent but haven't been able to get consistent stops.


End of first quarter, Heat 31-29

The Celtics are pounding the ball inside and have attempted 12 free throws through the first quarter while the Heat is relying on outside shots. Paul Pierce leads Boston with 10 points while Dwyane Wade has 9 and Udonis Haslem has 7 for Miami.
