Rasheed Wallace will miss tonight's game in New Jersey, according to the Globe's Gary Washburn.
Wallace complained of pain in his left forefoot following Sunday's game in Toronto. He sat out Monday night against the Hawks with the injury after warming up before the game and determining he was unable to play. The late scratch thrust Brian Scalabrine into the starting lineup.
The other option the Celtics have would be to start Glen Davis, but Doc Rivers said Monday he likes bringing some size off the bench. Rivers also said Davis was still not 100 percent in basketball shape after working his way back from a broken hand, so it's unlikely Davis will start tonight.
The Celtics return home tomorrow night to play the Bulls. Rivers said Monday that Wallace was day-to-day but would likely be out about a week. The Celtics have three days off following the Chicago game, so Monday night against the Mavericks seems like a reasonable target date for Wallace's return.
Wallace joins Kevin Garnett and Marquis Daniels on the list of injured Celtics. Paul Pierce (knee) is still working his way back to 100 percent.
