Advantage, Celtics?

It's been an odd year on Causeway St. Yeah, it's still windy as heck outside the Garden, and yeah, the seats inside are still mostly filled. But the home team hasn't been winning. Not nearly as much as they used to.

The Celtics were 35-6 at home last year. While the season did not end with a title, there was an obvious implication: The Celtics would still be dominant at home when Kevin Garnett returned from injury.

Flash forward to this season, and the Celtics have already lost twice as many games at home as they did all of last year. But things have changed this month. The Celtics are 6-1 at home in March, with five more games to go on this current six-game homestand.

There are no cupcakes on this schedule, but if the Celtics hold court, popular thought suggest teams might once again be afraid to brave the frigid TD.

Popular thought does not include Rajon Rondo.

"It might be too late for that," said Rondo. "We feel as a team it should be that way, but we've lost a lot of games here, maybe 12 (he was right), where maybe we lost only six last year (right again) ... Whether it's home or away, I think it's about time for us to get some momentum."

Rondo had an excellent game despite his realist postgame approach. His 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 15 assists were enough for his second triple-double of the season.

"He hurt us getting to the rim" said Nuggets coach Adrian Dantley. "We tried to take away his penetration and you know, Rondo’s an excellent ball player. What can you say?"

The Celtics clinched a playoff spot with tonight's win. The best home record they can finish with is 29-12. Good? Sure. Good enough for Rondo?

We'll see.
