To add insult to the Cleveland Cavaliers' perils, the team was fined twice by the NBA for wearing their alternate uniforms in the six-game series loss to the Celtics, according to a league source. The Cavaliers wore their wine throwbacks in Games 3 and 4, which is against an NBA policy that strongly suggests teams stick to one uniform during the playoffs or contact the league for approval if they decide to change.

The Cavaliers did not contact the league for approval and the NBA responded with a fine for the organization. The lone change the league approved was Phoenix's "Los Suns" jerseys for Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinal against San Antonio.

The Celtics wore their black trimmed alternates several times during the season but have struck with the conventional green and white road uniforms for the playoffs.
