Lost in a crucial defeat for the Celtics was a small victory: For one night at least, Kevin Garnett outplayed Pau Gasol. Garnett's 25 points were a playoff high for the aging superstar.

"KG was great," said Celtics coach Doc Rivers. "He didn't get it enough. We talked about 20 shots before the game. He shot 16, and he should have had 25 as far as I was concerned. I thought there were a lot of times we still should have gotten the ball to him."

Garnett took it to Gasol on Boston's first offensive possession, inflicting a spin move on Gasol using both quickness and explosiveness. Garnett finished lobs on the next two Celtics plays to give Boston a 6-0 lead.

"I was able to get into a nice rhythm," said Garnett. "I didn't really think about too much tonight, really wasn't overly excited. I thought for the most part I stayed composed. Really just was numb, to be honest. Took what they gave me, stayed aggressive, took my shots, and that was it."

The explosive, aggressive post moves from Garnett are one positive sign Celtics fans can take going into Game 4.
