The Celtics have reached an agreement with former Miami Heat point guard Carlos Arroyo, according to an NBA source. With Delonte West nursing a sprained ankle and Celtics coach Doc Rivers wary of playing Rajon Rondo high minutes, the Celtics have targeted Arroyo as relief.

Arroyo was waived by the Heat when they decided to sign Mike Bibby. He played in 49 games with Miami this season, averaging 5.6 points and two assists. He shot nearly 46 percent from the field and 44 percent from the 3-point line. But the Heat sought a pure distributor and Arroyo has averaged just 3.1 assists during his NBA career.

The Celtics elected not to re-sign Chris Johnson to a second 10-day contract, opening up an opportunity to bring Arroyo. It is uncertain whether he will join the Celtics in Milwaukee, where they play the Bucks tomorrow at 9 p.m. ET.
