Final, Hawks 88-83: The Celtics can only blame themselves for this one. Outscored 40-23 after taking a 60-48 lead with 6:47 left in the third quarter. And they were embarrassed on the offensive boards (14-3) and were 5-for-17 shooting in the final quarter. Another fourth-quarter breakdown for the Celtics. Hawks win despite shooting 37 percent.

Fourth quarter, 10.9, Hawks 86-83: Glen Davis had a chance to cut the lead to 1 but missed both free throws with 1:30 left and the Celtics have been scrambling ever since. Hawks ball but only 5 seconds left on 24-second clock. Celtics best hope is for a 3-pointer to send it to OT.

Fourth quarter, 1:24, Hawks 84-81: Celtics trying to rally valiantly but Glen Davis just missed a 20-footer that could have cut the lead to 1. Atlanta calls timeout with the ball. Celtics are getting pounded on the boards (13-2) and second-chance points (16-2). Rebounding will be the reason if the Celtics lose.

Fourth quarter, 3:16, Hawks 82-75: When the Celtics are on the road in the second round, they will point to this fourth quarter as a reason why. They are 3 for 11 from the field and most of those have been open shots. They have scored 7 points in nine minutes while the Hawks are hot. Joe Johnson's stepback 3-pointer may have sealed it.

Fourth quarter, 6:05, Hawks 77-73: The Celtics are just missing so many easy shots while the Hawks are killing the Celtics on the board and getting second-chance points. After being quiet for the first three quarters, Philips Arena is now lively and the Celtics need a rally, badly.

Fourth quarter, 10:23, Tied at 69: Hawks on a 23-13 run as the Celtics haven't exactly been stopped but have missed a series of easy shots. They are 8 for 15 from the free throw line and Rajon Rondo has missed nine shots. Doc Rivers tried going with the bench to start the quarter and they quickly lost the lead.

End of third quarter, Celtics 68-62: Celtics were up by as many as 12 but allowed the Hawks to clip away in the last few minutes of the quarter. The Celtics missed four free throws in the period and two runners by Ray Allen, who is 3 for 7 from the field for eight points. Jamal Crawford has 18 points and has kept Atlanta in the game. Paul Pierce has 18 points.

Third quarter, 4:59, Celtics 60-51: The Celtics have had their chances to extend the lead but have been ragged offensively, prompting Doc Rivers to call a timeout. Rajon Rondo has 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists but has missed three free throws. Ray Allen has six points and four shot attempts in 24 minutes while Kevin Garnett has 10 points and seven rebounds.

Third quarter, 10:12, Celtics 56-44: Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett drop in hoops, prompting Atlanta coach Larry Drew to call a quick timeout. Pierce has 16 points and Garnett eight. The Hawrs are 16-for-41 shooting (39 percent).

Halftime, Celtics 52-44: The Celtics go on a 14-3 run to end the half after Jamal Crawford carried the Hawks midway through the second period. Crawford has 15 points on 5-for-10 shooting and no other Hawk has more than six. Paul Pierce has 14 points while Delonte West has eight for Boston.

Second quarter, 8:42, Celtics 26-24: Glen Davis just canned a 28 footer to beat the shot clock to give the Celtics their first lead of the game as the defense has forced the Hawks into 36 percent shooting and the Atlanta bench has little to offer. Paul Pierce has 10 points and Delonte West five for Boston.

End of first quarter, Hawks 23-21: An ugly, technical filled first quarter as the Celtics get two techs and the Hawks one after separate altercations. Nothing serious but it should be an intense final three quarters. The Celtics are shooting 7 of 17 while the Hawks are 9 of 21. Paul Pierce has 10 points.

First quarter, 2:45, Hawks 17-15: Hawks are gaining confidence early with some slices to the basket by Josh Smith and Jamal Crawford. And it's getting chippy as Paul Pierce pushed Joe Johnson after a hard foul and received a technical. Pierce has six points while Ray Allen is scoreless.

First quarter, 7:25, Hawks 10-6: Hawks have come out inspired against the Celtics, who are just trying to find their legs. Josh Smith just scored his first field goal of the season against the Celtics with a driving dunk.
