Final: Wizards 95, Celtics 94 (OT)

Final, Wizards 95-94: Carlos Arroyo takes an 18-footer to win it but misses left and the Celtics are now the No. 3 seed and will host the New York Knicks on Sunday at TD Garden. Von Wafer had a tough night but his missed dunk that could have given the Celtics a 4-point lead in OT was the key.

First overtime, 38.6, Wizards 95-92: Von Wafer ties the game with two free throws but Wizards respond with Jordan Crawford 3-pointer as the 24-second clock winds down. Celtics ball.

First overtime, 1:29, Tied at 90: Celtics fighting valiantly as Glen Davis blocked a JaVale McGree attempted dunk and then hits two free throws to tie it. McGee and Andray Blatche have fouled out of the game and the Wizards are out of fouls. Washington ball.

First overtime, 1:58, Wizards 90-88: A nightmarish game for Von Wafer, who not only was responsible for sending game into OT but missed uncontested dunk that would have given Celtics 4-point lead. Wizards then score to tie the game and then come back and take lead on JaVale McGee dunk. Celtics ball.

End of regulation Tied at 84: Tough sequence for Von Wafer, who missed a free throw on one end and then bobbled a defensive rebound out of bounds with 8.9 left. And what do you know? Jordan Crawford hits a 16-footer from the baseline with 5.4 left to tie it. Celtics wasted 6-point lead in the final minute. Overtime.

Fourth quarter, 17.1, Celtics 84-82 Von Wafer fumbles the inbounds pass, re-gathers it and then gets fouled and hits one of two free throws. Wizards ball.

Fourth quarter, 21.2, Celtics 83-82 Well, the Celtics allowed a JaVale McGee layup off a steal and then went empty the next possession. On the fastbreak, John Wall went up for a 3-pointer as Carlos Arroyo attempted to avoid him, made contact and got 3 free throws and hit them all. Celtics ball.

Fourth quarter, 58.2, Celtics 83-77 It's the Carlos Arroyo show down the stretch as he steals the ball from Jordan Crawford and dishes the ball to Von Wafer for a layup and 6-point lead. Arroyo has 7 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists.

Fourth quarter, 2:22, Celtics 77-75 Carlos Arroyo playing big minutes for the Celtics and he just drained a 3-pointer for the lead. Things are getting interesting because if the Celtics win and Heat lose, the Celtics have a shot at the No. 2 seed. The Hawks made a big run on the Heat and the game is close late in the fourth quarter.

Fourth quarter, 5:01, Wizards 71-70 Celtics trying to make one final comeback as their defense haas intensified and Carlos Arroyo is making good on his playing time by distributing the ball. Wizards are out of fouls while the Celtics have two to give.

Fourth quarter, 9:46, Wizards 68-62 Celtics are running out of gas as the offense isn't running well with Avery Bradley at point guard and they have 2 points in the first 2:14 of the quarter. John Wall has 19 points while Yi Jianlian has hit two jumpers in the quarter. Let's see if the Celtics have one more run in them.

End of third quarter, Tied at 60 This game of runs continues as the Wizards begin the quarter on an 8-0 run and end it on a 7-0 run, Between those times, the Celtics go on a 16-5 run. So here we are tied at 60. The Celtics are trying to get by with Carlos Arroyo and Avery Bradley at point guard because Delonte West is out with an ankle injury.

Third quarter, 2:38, Celtics 58-53 The Celtics are fighting hard tonight without four starters and now Delonte West, who sprained his right ankle and will not return. Jeff Green has 16 points on 17 shots but also 11 rebounds. Jermaine O'Neal has 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocked shots.

Third quarter, 5:45, Celtics 52-51 Wizards began the half on an 8-0 run and the Celtics are in a dogfight. Delonte west has left the game with a sprained right ankle and is unlikely to return. Jeff Green has 12 points on 5-for-16 shooting with 11 rebounds. John Wall has 15 points for Washington.

Halftime, Celtics 44-37 Celtics finish the half on a 19-4 run as the bench players are beginning to get comfortable. Jermaine O'Neal has 11 points and eight rebounds while Delonte West has 11, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. John Wall has 13 points and Andray Blatche has 10.

Second quarter, 3:02, Celtics 39-33 Celtics are on a 14-0 run as Delonte West and Jeff Green have decided to assert themselves. West has 11 points and scored eight straight while Green has 9 points on 4-for-12 shooting with 7 rebounds. Jermaine O'Neal has 9 points and 5 rebounds.

Second quarter, 5:46, Wizards 33-27 Celtics just trying to stay in the game because they aren't making shots. Boston is 2 for 10 in the quarter and didn't score until the 8:16 mark. The trio of Glen Davis, Delonte West and Jeff Green -- who are rotation players -- are a combined 5-for-19 shooting. Jermaine O'Neal has eight points.

Second quarter, 8:44, Wizards 28-23 Washington is on a 26-11 run and the Celtics just simply can't score with their reserves. Delonte West just missed an open dunk and then made a turnover on the next possession. Jeff Green took a whopping 11 shots in 13 minutes and made 3 while Troy Murphy just had his layup snuffed by JaVale McGee.

End of first quarter, Celtics 23-19 After starting out fast, the Celtics sowed down, going scoreless for the last 2:51 of the period while Washington scored the final seven points of the period. Jeff Green took 10 shots in the period and made three while John Wall has 11 points fro Washington and has already attempted six free throws.

First quarter, 5:25, Celtics 12-7 Washington is on a 5-0 run as the Celtics have gone cold from the field, most notably Jeff Green, who is 1 for 5 with three missed layups. Celtics have a big chance to jump on the Wizards and get a win but they need to execute against Washington's B teamers.

First quarter, 9:17, Celtics 10-2 Jermaine O'Neal has six points while Jeff Green and Von Wafer has a bucket each as the Celtics look to make an early statement. Washington looks like it is on early vacation.

OK folks, if you were expecting the Big Three, they won't be present tonight. Doc Rivers has decided to get the veterans some rest, so it will be a unique night in Washington.

The starting five is Jeff Green, Delonte West, Von Wafer, Glen Davis and Jermaine O'Neal
