Austin Ainge joins Celtics front office
After spending the past two seasons as head coach of the D-League Maine Red Claws, Austin Ainge will re-join the Celtics front office as director of player personnel, the team said.
From the Red Claws' press release:
“I truly appreciate the opportunity that the Red Claws gave me and have enjoyed my time in Maine tremendously,” said Ainge. “The fans in Maine are incredible, and I wish the organization nothing but the best going forward.”
Ainge was a scout with the Celtics during the 2008-09 season, working with then-rookies J.R. Giddens and Bill Walker while they were in Maine. He became the first coach of the Red Claws, who went 18-32 this past season.
