*Paul Pierce did not work out again today and Celtics coach Doc Rivers listed him as "doubtful" to play Sunday against the New York Knicks. And in the event that Pierce recovered from his bruised right heel enough to play, he likely wouldn't start. Sasha Pavlovic is expected to start.

*Jermaine O'Neal said he is healthy and comfortable with the offense. He admitted he spent so much time out of the lineup that he wasn't able to completely learn the offense. He said he is ready for the compacted season.

*The Celtics are in the running for recently waived swingman Mickael Pietrus and Rivers talked briefly about his impact on his new team: "He would be great, a good addition for any team. He would be athletic. He would bring us some toughness. He could guard the 2 or thr 3. He could stretch the floor. Whoever gets him will be getting a heck of a player."

*Rivers said the second unit is way ahead of last year defensively and it's partly because Brandon Bass and Chris Wilcox have the speed to make up for their mistakes.
