The Celtics end their three-game road trip with the tricky Hornets, who are beginning a new era without Chris Paul and David West. But the retooled club will be without Eric Gordon, who will miss the game with a bruised right knee sustained in the season-opening win over the Phoenix Suns.

As for the Celtics, Paul Pierce remains out as does Chris Wilcox, who bruised his left shoulder in the Miami game. Coach Doc Rivers said the Celtics would have had trouble defending Gordon man-to-man with Ray Allen, but the team has a history of losing to shorthanded teams.
