Paul Piece is now second all-time in Celtics history in points as his 3-pointer with 10:23 left in the third quarter gave him 21,792 points, 1 ahead of the great Larry Bird. Pierce pressed the entire night trying to reach the record, missing eight of his first 12 shots. He received a long standing ovation from the soldout crowd at TD Garden and waved a few times for a louder response.

Teammate Mickael Pietrus held up a towel that read "THE TRUTH," Pierce's nickname. John Havlicek is the team's all-time leader in scoring with 26,395 points.
