Celtics center (yes, center) Kevin Garnett was named the NBA's Eastern Conference player of the week for his impressive performance in four games that helped the Celtics gain playoff positioning.

The Celtics went 4-1 this week, 3-1 in games in which Garnett played. Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce all sat out last night's win over the Bobcats, the Celtics' third game in three nights. Garnett averaged 20 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks in the four games he played. He's been downright resurgent since switching to the center position during the second half of the season.

Lakers center Andrew Bynum was named the player of the week for the Western Conference.
