The Celtics practiced shorthanded as usual as Jared Sullinger sat out with the back spasms that caused him to leave the 99-81 win Wednesday over the Sacramento Kings just minutes into the game. Celtics coach Doc Rivers said Sullinger is "50-50" to play Friday against the Orlando Magic.

The Magic, meanwhile, won't have former Celtic Glen "Big Baby" Davis, who broke his left foot during the Magic's 113-97 loss to the New York Knicks.

Other practice notes:

• Forward Brandon Bass said he was more comfortable with his touches during the win over the Kings, the second Celtics player to mention they embrace this more sharing style of play with Rajon Rondo out for the season.

• Rondo did not attend practice and has not addressed the media since news of his torn right anterior cruciate ligament.

• With Rondo and Sullinger out, the Celtics were down to 10 healthy players for practice. Fab Melo is present with the team but rehabilitating from a quadriceps strain before returning to NBADL Maine.
