Final: Celtics 102, Knicks 96

Final: Celtics 102-96: The most impressive victory of the season. They held the Knicks to 13-for-35 shooting in the second half and Carmelo Anthony missed 20 of 26 shots. Paul Pierce led the Celtics with 23 points on 10-for-18 shooting while Kevin Garnett added 19.

Fourth quarter, 24.1, Celtics 102-96: Kevin Garnett just sank two free throws and now has 19 points but he has been trash talking with Carmelo Anthony all night. Paul Pierce has 23 points, including a fadeaway jump and a blown kiss to Spike Lee after the ball went into the net. Knicks ball.

Fourth quarter, 1:09, Celtics 98-93: The Celtics are a possession or two from sealing it but it's not over. J.R, Smith has two free throws and the Knicks have hit 14 3-pointers tonight. Smith was bumped in eye butting heads with Avery Bradley and the training staff is trying to stop the bleeding.

Fourth quarter, 2:25, Celtics 96-93: Two great rivals are going at it and the Celtics are hanging in there with great defense and some timely scoring from the bench. Kevin Garnett has 17 points for the Celtics while J.R. Smith has 23 for New York.

Fourth quarter, 5:30, Celtics 90-86: What else would we expect for a Celtics-Knicks game than a thriller. The Celtics led by as many a. s 8, the Knicks came back to tie and now the Celtics have hit the last two shots, including a baseline jumper from Avery Bradley, who has been stellar tonight in his fourth game back. Paul Pierce leads the Celtics with 19 points despite foul trouble while the Knicks have hit 13 3-pointers but just 16 2-pointers.

End of third quarter, Celtics 76-72: The Celtics withstood New York's 3-point barrage and kept pounding the ball in the paint, with Jared Sullinger hitting a buzzer-beating layup to give the Celtics a precious lead. Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett each have 15 points but the bench has been critical with 33 total points, 15 from Jeff Green.

Third quarter, 5:44, Knicks 64-62: The Celtics continue to stay close despite Paul Pierce picking up his fourth foul early in the third quarter. Since the first quarter, the Knicks have been whistled for two personal fouls and the Celtics have been called for 10. Doc Rivers is close to getting a technical foul but his team is playing well in Rajon Rondo's absence.

Halftime, Knicks 56-53: It was fireworks in the second quarter as both teams combined for 66 points. The Knicks hit eight 3-pointers in the second quarter en route to 35 points but the Celtics countered with four of their own. The Knicks only made three 2-point baskets in period, so they constantly put pressure on the Celtics' perimeter defense, but Boston countered by pounding the paint. The Celtics have scored 22 points in the paint so far.

Second quarter,1:08, Knicks 53-48: The Knicks have hit seven 3-pointers in the quarter and J.R. Smith has 14 points off the bench but the Celtics are still hanging close because of Paul Pierce's 15 points in the second quarter.

Second quarter, 8:29, Celtics 29-28: The Celtics are hanging close despite just 2 points from Paul Pierce and they have held the Knicks to 39 percent shooting and 3-for-9 3-point shooting.

End of first quarter, Celtics 22-21: Both teams combine to shoot 13 of 35 but the Celtics attempted 10 free throws, taking advantage of the Knicks' soft interior defense with Tyson Chander on the bench. The Celtics were 6-for-16 shooting with 8 points from Kevin Garnett and the remaining 13 from the bench.

First quarter, 2:42, Knicks 18-15: The Celtics bench has gotten the team back into the game with a 7-0 run after falling behind 10. Jeff Green has gotten to the free throw line four straight times while Jared Sullinger has been effective on the boards. The Celtics are hanging close despite no points from Paul Pierce, who has two fouls.

First quarter, 6:10, Knicks 14-8: New York is on a 7-0 run and Tyson Chandler already has 7 points while J.R. Smith has come off the bench to hit a 3-pointer. Chandler is getting easy buckets as Kevin Garnett roams to help on defense.

First quarter, 7:41, Celtics 8-7: Avery Bradley has missed his first three shots, Kevin Garnett has all 8 points for the Celtics. Carmelo Anthony and Paul Pierce each have two fouls.

The Celtics will try to go for their third straight win without Rajon Rondo, who was suspended for bumping into an official Saturday against Atlanta.
