HOUSTON -- After the Celtics beat Chicago Wednesday, Kevin Garnett said this weekend would "definitely" be his 15th and final appearance in the All-Star Game.
On Friday, Garnett spent much of the day clarifying those comments.
"It came out as me saying this was my last, but I’m not an egotistical guy or none of that, and I wasn’t just going to say that, 'Yeah, by the way, I’m going to be an All-star next year," he said. "To be honest, I’m more than grateful to be here. I’m more than humbled."
Garnett did say to the media Wednesday that "Y'all don't know what I know." That phrase seemed to alude to the possibility that the 36-year-old Garnett, who has two years left on his contract with the Celtics, may well retire after this season.
What did that mean?
"Exactly what it meant," Garnett said.
What does he know that the media doesn't know.
"That you don't know," Garnett said with a laugh.
