PHOENIX -- The Celtics will be shorthanded again tonight, as Doc Rivers decided to rest Kevin Garnett, without much resistance, after he looked tired Wednesday against the Los Angeles Lakers. That means Garnett will get three full days rest entering Sunday's game at Portland. Jeff Green will start in place of Garnett and will likely have to defend Marcin Gortat along with Brandon Bass.

• The Celtics will spend the night in Phoenix and fly to Portland on Saturday afternoon. They will face the Trail Blazers on Sunday and Jazz on Monday.

• Rivers confirmed that the club will sign former Bobcat and Thunder forward DJ White, likely to a 10-day contract. White spent this season in China after a productive season last year in Charlotte.

• Newly acquired Marcus Morris will be active for the Suns. Hamed Haddadi, acquired from Toronto, is inactive.

• Rivers said the Celtics are still in search of a big man to fill the roster. The Celtics lack another center with Jason Collins going to Washington in the Crawford deal.
