Kevin Garnett was a late scratch for Saturday's game against the Charlotte Bobcats with what the team described as a left adductor strain. The adductor muscle is located in the thigh area. Jeff Green will start in his place.

Celtics coach Doc Rivers said Garnett was not moving well in Friday's practice and told the center to stay home and get some rest. It is uncertain if Garnett will play in Monday's showdown against the Miami Heat, who have won 21 consecutive games entering Sunday.

Garnett missed one previous game this season, on Feb. 22 against Phoenix, but that was because of rest.

"He just wasn't moving well today in practice or today so we're sitting him," Rivers said. "He's just not feeling great."

When asked if it could be a long-term injury, Rivers said: "I don't think so."

Chris Wilcox suffered a strained right adductor muscle last season, missed the final game before the All-Star Break but returned six days later.
