BROOKLYN -- Paul Pierce, who has been out since Nov. 29 with a fractured bone in his right hand, will play tonight against the Celtics, his first regular-season meeting against his former team.

Brooklyn coach Jason Kidd will bring Pierce off the bench for just the fourth time in his career and first time since Feb. 9, 2007 while with the Celtics. Tonight will be Pierce's 1,118th regular season game. Pierce told reporters Monday he was willing to come off the bench if that mean victories for the Nets.

"I’’m not a selfish player," he said. "If it’s something that’s best for the team and help us win ballgames, if I gotta come off the bench, if I gotta not play, if I gotta be a cheerleader on the sideline, if it’s going to help us win. I’m willing to do that."
