The Celtics return home after a six-day break for a two-game homestand against Cleveland and Atlanta. The Celtics have a stretch of games where they can approach the .500 mark before embarking on a West Coast trip that will be daunting. Boston has a four-game stretch with the Cavaliers, Hawks, Bulls and Pelicans before heading to Oklahoma City next Sunday.
Cleveland, meanwhile, is reeling after suspending Andrew Bynum indefinitely and it is expected to try to trade the mercurial center before Jan. 7.

• Despite a small injury scare when Avery Bradley and Gerald Wallace bumped knees in practice, the Celtics are fully healthy besides Rajon Rondo.
• Cavaliers coach Mike Brown was asked about the suspension: "He's a good player. I think everybody saw glimpses of it. It's indefinite. I'm not trying to be funny, but everybody knows what 'indefinite' means."
• The Celtics are expected to practice the next two days before hosting the Atlanta Hawks on New Years Eve. The Celtics play 10 of their 17 January games on the road.
