The Celtics are trying to combine a throwback with the NBA's new trend of sleeved jerseys by introducing their new St. Patrick's Day uniforms that will premier Friday at home against the Phoenix Suns.

The Celtics will commemorate their first team, the 1946-47 Celtics of the then-Basketball Association of America, by wearing sleeved jerseys that are green with gold and white trim. The NBA has introduced sleeved jerseys in the past few years with teams such as the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State Warriors. The Celtics had not been part of that trend, until now.
