Joel Anthony Will Pick Up Option With Celtics

Not one to throw away free money, Joel Anthony will opt into the final year of his contract with the Boston Celtics, Basketball Insiders reports. He will make $3.8 million next season.

The Celtics acquired Anthony in January in a three-team deal that sent Jordan Crawford and MarShon Brooks to the Warriors and gave the Celtics a first-round pick and a second-round pick. He averaged 1 point and 1.5 rebounds in 31 games for the Celtics, causing C's fans to immediately forget this guy was starting playoff games against them when he was with the Heat. Anthony started 51 games in 2011-12 before falling out of the Miami rotation.
