Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert's venomous letter to fans following LeBron James's departure from Cleveland in 2010 is one reason James is taking so long to make his decision on where to go in free agency this time around, ESPN reports.
In the letter, written in the now infamous Comic Sans font, Gilbert calls James a "coward" for leaving Cleveland in such a public way, and says that the Cavaliers would win a title before James ever would in Miami. Gilbert's prediction was proven wrong. The letter remained on the Cavaliers website until this week.
"If it wasn't for that letter, this would've been done awhile ago," a source told ESPN.
James, who opted out of his contract last week, is reportedly deciding between between staying in Miami and returning to Cleveland. James is from nearby Akron and still has a home there.
