ORLANDO Ė The Boston Celtics have one of the more talented NBA rosters in Orlando Summer League this year, but you would never have guessed it watching their lackluster effort Monday afternoon.
Pacers power forward Willie Reed scored a game-high 18 points and fellow big man Kevin Jones added 17 points as the Indiana Pacers dominated the Celtics for the final three quarters in a 96-77 blowout win at the Amway Center.
Kelly Olynyk had a game-high 15 points for the Celtics, as Boston led by as many as 18 points in the first quarter, before the Pacers turned the tables. Indiana outscored the Celtics by a staggering 65-27 margin during the second and third quarter, building a 26-point lead Boston was unable to recover from.
Rookie Marcus Smart had his second straight subpar game on the offensive end, going just 3-of-15 from the field to finish with 11 points.
Boston shot a mere 34.3 percent as a team overall.
The loss drops the Celtics to a 1-1 record in Orlando. Boston will have Tuesday off before matching up with the Pistons Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
