In what would constitute something of a surprise, it appears the Los Angeles Clippers have joined the list of potential suitors for veteran free agent/former Celtics star Ray Allen.

Should the 39-year old Allen decide to play a 19th NBA season, signing with the Clippers would reunite him with his former coach in Boston, Doc Rivers. Rivers, who just signed a massive extension with L.A. on the heels of the Donald Sterling disaster finally being settled and the subsequent sale of the team to billionaire Steve Ballmer, has been said to be recruiting Allen to join him, Chris Paul and Blake Griffin on one of the Western Conference's top contenders.

The reason why such a move would be surprising revolves around Allen's unceremonious exit from the Celts two years ago. Remember, he took less money and fewer years to join LeBron James and the Miami Heat. The biggest reason for Allen's departure were said to be in regard to his relationship with Celts point guard Rajon Rondo. But Rivers stepped in not long after the NBA's all-time leader in 3-pointers defected to South Beach and essentially said, if you're going to blame anyone, blame me.

Both the San Antonio Spurs and the Cleveland Cavaliers have also been linked to Allen, who was rumored to be of interest to the Clips earlier this month but has been steadfast in saying that he will not make a decision on whether to play another year until September.

That's two days away, Ray. Almost time to make up your mind.
