On This Day 22 Years Ago, the NBA's Best Trash Talker Retired

On Aug. 18, 1992, Larry Bird announced his retirement from the NBA after 12 seasons. Bird, a 12-time All Star and three time 3-point champion, was also a legendary trash talker.

The clip below encapsulates some of Bird's best moments.

I'm partial to this quote from Xavier McDaniel, on Bird hitting a game-winning shot in his face. "He said, 'I'm going to get it right here and I'm going to shoot it right in your face.' And he came out right about that exact spot, and shot a shot right in my face. And he was like, 'I didn't mean to leave two seconds on the clock.' He wanted to shoot it at zero seconds on the clock. I walked back to the sideline like, damn."
