The Celtics had roster space open after last week's moves that brought three players to Boston (including Jeff Green, No. 8), but also shipped five out. To fill the open roster spots, the Celtics looked to the buyout market, a collection of players who have reached contract settlements with their teams and become free agents. They signed forward Troy Murphy, who was bought out by the Nets, but several other possibilities signed elsewhere.
