May 19: Lester no-hits Royals
Beat lymphoma? Check. Win World Series? Check. Pitch no-hitter? Check. Less than two years after being diagnosed with cancer, Sox youngster Jon Lester twirled a no-no against the Kansas City Royals, walking just two while whiffing nine. It was catcher Jason Varitek's fourth no-hitter caught, an MLB record. And just like Clay Buchholz had done in September, Lester finished the job with a strikeout, blowing away Alberto Callaspo on a 94 MPH fastball.
