Oct. 28: Red Sox rule again Just three years removed from their miraculous 2004 World Series run, the Red Sox captured the title again, staging an impressive comeback against the Cleveland Indians in the ALCS before sweeping the Colorado Rockies in the World Series. Cancer survivor Jon Lester started and won Game 4 of the World Series, and dominant young closer Jonathan Papelbon slammed the door on the Rockies by retiring the last five batters.
