Welcome to Big Shots
Like these athletes, it's hard not to get excited as we launch Big Shots, a weekly global tour of great sports imagery from some of the best photographers in the business. Each week we'll bring you stunning pictures of sporting events -- both hyped and modest, of athletes -- both famous and obscure, and of countries -- both familiar and exotic. Join us now as we visit Sydney for the Australian Youth Olympic Festival, travel to South Korea for the FIS Snowboard World Championships, and watch the competition from Croatia for the Men's World Handball Championship. And that's just the beginning. (30 photos total)

I really love photo #28.
Pretty cool, relative of the "Big Picture"?
Need an RSS feed, like Big Picture please.
Great images -- love #23
I love the new site. Photo # 5 is really cool.
i love serena williams!
very cool!....the possibilities are endless with sports photography,
looking forward to it all.
thanks
This is a great new addition to the site. The pictures are amazing!
Chris was right, you guys should put an RSS feed on this, I think you would generate a lot of hits.
Great stuff. Feel bad for the dude on bottom left in #20!
if the print publication could offer glossy high end photograhy like these every day then maybe the paper would not go out of business
Great new feature! Keep 'em coming.
The intensity on all the athletes faces is prevelant in all the closeup pictures. Great site. I'll be back!!!
Thank you all for your comments. RSS is coming soon. Meanwhile: http://www.boston.com/sports/blogs/bigshots/index.xml
I live in West Hartford, CT so The Globe is not as prevalent down here but I may start to get it just for these pics! Great job!
Be even cooler if the pictures had EXIF data
That would be cool, Joe, but the pictures come to us without any data except captions. In the case of a Boston Globe staff photograph, I could ask the photographer to share more data, but most of the Big Shots photographs are from wire services.
These are fantastic images, some awesome captures in there. A little bit of noise in some of the shots (13), but great moments captured though.
